The month-long Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) workshop-2025, organised for girls under the aegis of NTPC- Kayamkulam, concluded recently.
Thirty-eight students from 10 government schools in five villages — Arattupuzha, Chingoli, Cheppad, Pallipad and Karthikapally — attended the workshop, which aimed to nurture the potential of underprivileged girls and promote gender equality.
Sessions, activites
The participants engaged in a wide range of sessions and activities designed to build life skills and boost confidence. These included classes on fire safety, health and hygiene, yoga and computers, as well as sessions focussed on personality development. Teachers also conducted sessions on 'Good Touch-Bad Touch' to empower the girls and promote self-reliance. Recreational activities such as weekend movie screenings, picnic, magic show, and fashion show added to the excitement.
Speaking at the valedictory session, Debdutta Sinha, head of project, NTPC - Kayamkulam, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in shaping an inclusive and progressive society. 'The Girl Empowerment Mission reflects NTPC's vision of nurturing talent and building future leaders by providing equal opportunities,' Mr. Sinha said.
