The Milwaukee-based industrial hemp processor plans to increase distribution of its beverages from seven to 16 states by the year's end, said Ryan Pattee, CEO of Goodland Extracts. Its THC-infused sodas are already available in 650 locations in Wisconsin alone, including Total Wine, Festival Foods and Woodman's, Pattee said. Goodland Extracts works with Badger Liquor to distribute in Wisconsin. Nationwide, the beverages are sold in about 2,000 locations, including stores, bars, restaurants and coffee shops, with states beyond Wisconsin coming online in December 2024. Goodland Extracts products are also available in stores in Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina and South Carolina. The business soon expects to launch its THC-infused soda line in Oklahoma and Missouri, with plans in the coming months to distribute in Florida, Texas, New York, Illinois, Kentucky, Georgia and Arizona, Pattee said. The expansion plans are bolstered by recent recognition at the 2025 High Spirits Awards with a Best in Show win for Goodland Extracts' Cherry Pie High Soda, a Delta 9-infused beverage. Cherry Pie High has been on the market for about a year and combines THC distillate with natural botanicals and sparkling water, according to a press release. Pattee said the soda has a unique and complex flavor. 'You get like a burst of cherry up front but then can taste the cherry pie filling, the vanilla and the crust. The crust is so unique that you can taste it,' Pattee said in an interview. Produced by L.A. Spirits Awards LLC, the High Spirits competition uses a blind taste test format that evaluates taste, aroma and overall experience, according to Goodland Extracts. A panel of sommeliers, mixologists and cannabis industry professionals serve as judges. The competition pitted more than 200 of the nation's leading THC-infused beverage brands against each other in 12 categories, Pattee said. It was Goodland Extracts' first time entering the competition, which is in its second year, Pattee said. Several of the company's other THC-infused products were also recognized in the High Spirits competition. This is not the first win for Cherry Pie High, which also picked up a gold medal in the America's Best Spirits competition in December, Pattee said. In addition to its beverages, Goodland Extracts produces tinctures, topicals and gummies.
