Google has announced the expansion of its Google Audio Overviews feature on NotebookLM. The tool now supports over 50 languages, including Arabic.
The feature, originally launched in English late last year, turns uploaded documents into podcast-like audio summaries. Google reported that Audio Overviews are designed to make information more engaging and accessible.
With Gemini's native audio support, users can now listen to content in their preferred language. The updates are being rolled out this week.
Google revealed that Audio Overviews will be generated in the language set in the user's account settings. The company also introduced a new 'Output Language' option in NotebookLM.
This option allows users to: Change output language anytime
Create multilingual content easily
For example, teachers can upload mixed-language resources, such as an Arabic documentary, an English paper, and Spanish reports and generate a single Audio Overview in a preferred language.
This helps students access key insights without language barriers.
Google also reported that the feature currently supports Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian colloquial Arabic. More dialects will be added soon.
