Watch: Paraglider gets sucked into clouds as high as Mount Everest, captures video of terrifying experience at -40°C
On May 24, while flying in the Qilian Mountains, Peng Yujiang was pulled into a strong cloud vortex, also known as 'cloud suck', and rose to 8,598 metres (28200 feet). It was nearly as high as Mount Everest (29,030 feet). He had no oxygen masks. He survived extreme cold and high wind speeds that could cause frostbite in minutes. Luckily, he missed serious thunderstorms. At that height, it was -40°C with strong winds. Peng suffered frostbite and low oxygen levels but managed to record the entire 72-minute flight. The paraglider later said he knew he was in trouble when his hands went numb and he couldn't control the parachute properly. Though he recovered, his face and fingers were frostbitten. "It was terrifying... Everything was white. I couldn't see any direction. Without the compass, I wouldn't have known which way I was going. I thought I was flying straight, but in reality, I was spinning," the BBC quoted him as telling China Media Group. "I wanted to come down quickly, but I just couldn't. I was lifted higher and higher until I was inside the cloud," he added. Peng has only around five years of paragliding experience. Many online praised him for surviving and called him a legend. According to a fellow paraglider Peng is now a respected figure in the paragliding community. The interest in 'Paragliding' was sky-high on Google India during May 27-29: The interest in 'Paragliding' was sky-high on Google India during May 27-29 What happened next shocked many. The Chinese paraglider has now been banned from flying for six months. Authorities in Gansu punished him for not submitting a flight plan. They have also banned his companion Gu Zhimin for sharing the video online without permission. Peng Yujiang's flight was not officially approved. He, nevertheless, claimed he was doing ground paragliding training when strong winds lifted him up. The Gansu Aero Sports Association called it an accident, not illegal flying. Still, it suspended him from flying for six months, according to Sixth Tone. The decision was announced on May 28. Many people online were upset, asking why sharing a personal experience should be punished. However, others supported the move, saying it could stop thrill-seekers from trying risky stunts. Although he holds a valid paragliding licence, Peng said he didn't plan to fly that day. He was only training when he got pulled into the strong winds. Deeply shaken by the incident, Peng doesn't plan to fly again soon.

‘Will you exchange your life with Warren Buffett?' Influencer shares unique perspective
Will you exchange your life with Warren Buffett? The instant reaction could be a resounding yes because Buffett's net worth is nearly $157 billion ( ₹ 13.5 lakh crore) as of May 29, per Forbes. However, an Indian influencer has given a unique perspective. Atal Prabhat Poddar, who often shares life lessons and explains various perspectives of life, posted an Instagram Reel on May 29. It instantly grabbed people's attention. 'Warren Buffett is one of the richest people in the world. He can talk to anyone in the world. Even Bill Gates is just a phone call away for him,' the influencer says. 'He has properties all over the world. He can choose what sort of lifestyle he wants to adapt to. But, if I ask you to exchange your life with him, you may obviously say no. The reason is his age,' Poddar continues. 'But, if Warren Buffet had an option, he would probably leave all his wealth and choose to be a younger person. You can choose not to be the richest person in the world as you have the biggest wealth: time. More often than not, we miss to appreciate that,' the influencer adds. 'We should start now. Even if you're 50 or 60, it's enough. You can build a business or do whatever you want to do,' he concludes. 'What an amazing perspective,' reacted one Instagram user. 'One of the most valuable lessons you've ever taught,' wrote another. Another wrote, 'Your words are just made my day…' 'You can also become another Warren Buffett or even more than that,' came from another. In January 2023, in a piece called Would You Trade Places with Warren Buffett?, investment banker Owen Stoneking shared a similar perspective. He wrote that most people wouldn't trade youth for money. Life should focus on collecting 'experience points' (XP), not just saving money, he said. He warned against living on autopilot and working too hard. Meaningful experiences, especially in youth or with family, bring true fulfilment. Memories, not just wealth, are life's real treasure, he added. Dunzo gets relief in one insolvency case as NCLT dismisses plea
Mumbai: The Bengaluru bench of the National Company Law Tribunal has dismissed an insolvency petition against e-commerce delivery startup Dunzo Digital Pvt. Ltd. The insolvency court was hearing an insolvency petition filed last year by one of the company's financial creditors—called Invoice Discounters of Dunzo Digital Pvt Ltd—for non-payment of dues. On Tuesday, an NCLT bench led by Justices Sunil Kumar Aggarwal and Radha Krishna Sreepada held that the insolvency petition was not maintainable and dismissed it. The bench had earlier deferred its verdict on the matter citing its inability to finalise a written order. The decision is significant as some of Dunzo's vendors including Google India and Facebook India and other creditors including Betterplace Safety Solutions and Velvin Packaging have filed insolvency petitions against the debt-laden e-commerce platform. According to an order dated 29 May 2024, Dunzo and its financial creditor Invoice Discounters of Dunzo Digital had sought time before the court stating that settlement talks were underway. The bench had directed that if the two parties couldn't reach a settlement, Dunzo was to file its reply to the insolvency petition within two weeks. During a later hearing, Invoice Discounters informed NCLT that the settlement talks had failed, following which the tribunal forfeited Dunzo's right to file its reply in the matter. The bankruptcy tribunal has pulled up the Bengaluru-based Dunzo on multiple occasions for failing to reach a settlement with its lenders. Dunzo owes Betterplace Safety Solutions about ₹ 4 crore, and Velvin Packaging about ₹ 2.5 crore, according to reports. Dunzo also owes about ₹ 11.4 crore to advertising partners and vendors, including Google India, Facebook India and Glance. Last year, Lightbox, a venture capital firm that held about a 11.1% stake in Dunzo gave up its board seat at the company. In January this year, Dunzo's co-founder and former chief executive Kabeer Biswas stepped down from his position to join e-commerce marketplace Flipkart.
