Amritsar Rural Police have arrested Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopy Foji, and Sahil Masih, alias Shali, for alleged espionage activities linked to Pakistan's ISI.
NEW DELHI: The Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly being involved in espionage activities linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Punjab Police said on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Foji and Sahil Masih alias Shali, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.
"In a major intelligence-based operation, Amritsar Rural Police apprehended two persons suspected of espionage activities linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)," DGP Yadav stated.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Gurpreet Singh was in direct contact with ISI operatives and is suspected of transmitting sensitive and confidential information using pen drives.
The ISI handler in the case has been identified as Rana Javed, Yadav said.
The police have seized two mobile phones allegedly used to communicate with the Pakistani handlers.
'Investigations are underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators,' the DGP added.
This is the latest in a series of operations by Punjab Police targeting cross-border espionage and narco-terror networks, as the state continues to tighten security against infiltration and intelligence threats.
