WSU selects 12 finalists for the Gore Scholarship

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita State University has announced the selection of 12 high school seniors who are finalists for the Gore Scholarship. They were selected from the 551 students who competed in the Nov. 23 Distinguished Scholarship Invitational. Three of the finalists will be chosen as recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial $64,000 scholarship. The Gore Scholarship is one of the largest undergraduate scholarship awards in the Midwest. To receive an invitation to compete in the annual invitational, students must receive a score of 27 or higher on the ACT, have a 3.5 or higher GPA, and rank in the top 10% of their class. This year's finalists have an average ACT score of 27 and an average GPA of 3.88. They completed applications and essays and competed in an on-campus leadership competition in November. The selected finalists returned to campus on Jan. 23 for final interviews. The winners will be announced Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Marcus Welcome Center. The 2025 finalists are: Kit Boor, Eisenhower High School Tyllor Childers, Wichita Northwest High School Elijah DeFore, Wichita Northeast Magnet Luke Hoy, Valley Center High School Mei-Li Hunt, Wesclin Junior-Senior High School (Illinois) Lane Lamping, Basehor-Linwood High School Maci Morgan, Wichita Heights High School Vy Nguyen, Wichita East High School Lakshmishree Sivakumar, Wichita East High School Maddie Sohm, Russell High School Beckett Sollars, Park Hill High School (Missouri) Aidan Thibodeau, Herington High School All finalists will receive scholarship packages to attend Wichita State University in Fall 2025.
