Five-Year-Old Problem Tiger Captured in Talodi Range

1 2 3 4 5 6 Chandrapur: In a major relief for villagers, the forest department captured a five-year-old male tiger that had killed two people in the Talodhi forest range on Friday morning. The tiger had triggered widespread fear and panic in the area. After recent attacks, forest officials deployed camera traps to identify the animal. The tiger was confirmed to be a male with the ID TATR-224. Once its identity was established, orders were issued for its capture. The rapid response team (RRT) from Tadoba, led by wildlife veterinary officer Dr Ravikant Khobragade, was deployed to tranquilize and capture the big cat. On Friday, around 10.52am, the tiger was spotted in Survey No. 2 of the Gangasagar Hetti area. The team's shooter, Ajay Marathe, successfully darted the tiger. After sedation, the animal was examined for physical condition and injuries and was subsequently caged. Officials confirmed that the tiger was in good condition post-capture. The captured tiger has been safely relocated to the Gorewada Wildlife Research and Training Institute in Nagpur. With this latest success, Dr Khobragade has added another feather to his cap. This was his 91st successful tiger capture. Under his leadership, the RRT has carried out numerous high-risk rescue and capture missions involving wild animals across the region.
