Statewide campaign aims to reduce speeding and car accidents
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety program has began it's 'Speed a Little, Lose a Lot' campaign. This is a state-wide effort to reduce speeding tickets and accidents.
This campaign is just one of twelve initiatives from the governor's office. The idea is not about giving out more speeding tickets, but to create safe driving habits and save the lives of people on the road.
'We've had several fatalities last year that was speed related here in the city,' Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette said. 'I think 91% of all traffic speed traffic fatalities or on common roads and highways. So it's really, really important for people to slow down even in the city.'
