TNEA online registration portal to close at midnight on June 6

The online portal for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2025 will close for registration and fee payment at midnight on Friday. However, candidates who have already paid the fees could upload their certificates till Monday (June 9, 2025). A press release from Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan said 2,98,425 candidates had registered on the portal, with 2,44,168 (1,33,805 boys and 1,10,363 girls) paying the registration fees as on 1 a.m. on Friday. The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2025, for admission to course, will be held in the final week of June and, hence, candidates can register via the TNEA portal and pay the registration fees till June 30. The release added that dates for the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) supplementary counselling would be announced as soon as the supplementary exam results were declared.

The Higher Education Department has extended the deadline to apply for arts and science colleges from May 27 to May 30. The Directorate of Collegiate Education will conduct online single-window counselling for 176 colleges under its purview. Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan announced on Tuesday that the extension was based on a request from aspirants. So far, 2,25,705 applicants have registered, and 1,84,762 candidates, including 1,08,619 girls, 76,065 boys, and 78 third gender students, have registered through the online portal ( The merit list for special category students will be released on May 29, and the one for general category students will be out on May 30. The list will be displayed on notice boards at all 176 arts and science colleges. The lists will also be available on the websites of the colleges. Further, candidates will be informed through email and SMS by the respective colleges. Counselling next month Counselling for special category candidates will be held on June 2 and 3. For the general category, counselling will commence on June 4 and end on June 14. Classes for all students will commence on June 30, Mr. Govi Chezhiaan said.

The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2025) committee on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) commenced the single-window admission process for engineering, polytechnic, and arts and science programmes for the academic year 2025-26. Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan launched the websites for the same at a function in Anna University, Chennai. He also exchanged MoUs with five companies for student-training programmes. Engineering admissions The last date to register for online admissions through is June 6 and the last date to upload documents is June 9. Random numbers will be assigned on June 11 and certificate verification will be conducted online at the TNEA facilitation centres from June 10 to 20. The rank list will be published on June 27, and students may get their grievances redressed from June 29 to July 2. With 11 government engineering colleges introducing new degree programmes, an additional 720 students will be admitted. TNEA facilitation centres The government has established 110 TFAs, and candidates may contact officials at 1800-425-0110 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to get their doubts cleared. They may also send an email to tneacare@ . In 2024-25, 463 engineering colleges with 2,42,231 seats participated in the counselling process. As many as 1,78,070 candidates were enrolled. This is 4.82% more than the previous year, officials said. Under the 7.5% reservation category, 11,355 candidates of the 13,496 eligible candidates from government schools — an increase of 12.63% as compared to 2023-24 — were admitted. For lateral-entry diploma courses, candidates must have qualified Class 12 or must have qualified in ITI (any branch of engineering and technology after qualifying Class 10). For admission to the four-year part-time diploma, aspirants must have qualified Class 10, with two years of ITI or two years of work experience. Registration fee is ₹150. For ST/SC/SCA candidates, there is no registration fee. Five new courses have been launched this year in 13 government polytechnic colleges, benefiting an estimated 360 students. Arts and science education This year, 1,25,345 students will be admitted to the 176 government arts and science colleges in the State. This is 18,868 more seats than last year. In the 2025 Budget, the government announced 11 new colleges in Coonoor, Natham, Alandhur, Vikravandi, Cheyyur, Manamadurai, Kolakkanatham, Ottapidaram, Muthupettai, Tiruvidaimaruthur and Panruti. Chennai: From the next academic year, students in colleges and universities can complain about stinky toilets and poor food in canteens by scanning a QR code. The Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE) will introduce this QR-code-based feedback system on a pilot basis at the . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "If the codes are scanned, the message will automatically be triggered to the authorities concerned," said M P Vijayakumar, vice-chairman of TANSCHE. For example, toilets will have two QR codes with messages "Am I clean?" or "Am I stinky?" If they scan the QR code for stinky, the message will be sent to authorities. "This is the way to get feedback to improve the service delivery. The council has developed the software. Higher education minister Govi Chezhiaan will launch it soon," he added. The council also plans to launch a student satisfaction survey on academic experience, teaching quality, curriculum, campus environment, career and skill development, and overall satisfaction in all higher educational institutions. Refurbished Rajarajan Mani Mandapam inaugurated

The Rajarajan Mani Mandapam, a structure built in honour of Chola King Rajaraja Chola, was inaugurated by Minister for Higher Education Govi Chezhiaan after an extensive facelift in Thanjavur on Wednesday. The renovation of the memorial and adjoining museum on the premises, originally built in 1995, was carried out by the Public Works Department at a cost of ₹3.66 crore. According to an official release, Thanjavur District Collector B. Priyanka Pankajam, Mayor S. Ramanathan and Deputy Mayor Anjugam Bhoopathy were present. The renovation and maintenance project had been announced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on November 2, 2022. In addition to the general maintenance of the old building, the upgraded facility now includes shops, public toilets, children's park, walking trails, and parking area.
