Holkar college principal among 15 transferred by DHE
Indore: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the department of higher education has issued transfer orders for 15 professors and principals, including Dr Anamika Jain, principal of Govt Holkar Science College, Indore. According to the official order, dated June 3, 2025, Dr Jain was transferred to BKSN Govt College, Shajapur. The directive, issued in the name of Governor of Madhya Pradesh, follows appointments under the Prime Minister College of Excellence initiative. All transferred faculty will serve as in-charge principals, with salaries drawn against principal posts at their new institutions. Government Holkar Science College has been at the centre of controversies in recent months. On June 3, services of 150 janbhagidari employees were terminated by Janbhagidari president, leading to staff protests on campus. As the transfer order of Dr Jain came, ABVP leaders shared it on social media groups and raised slogans. A post by an ABVP member read, 'Jab jab chhatra bola hai, raaj singhasan dola hai. ABVP Zindabad' (Whenever the students have spoken, the throne of the king has shaken. Long live ABVP) Earlier in Feb, ABVP members announced a Holi celebration without approval and clashed with the college administration when posters were removed. A probe revealed that students had locked 150 staff members inside Yashwant Hall and disrupted electricity. Acting on principal Dr Jain's complaint, collector Asheesh Singh ordered an inquiry that confirmed the incident.

Guest faculty appointments in govt colleges to be centralised via GFMS from this year
Indore: From the upcoming academic session, higher education department will oversee all guest faculty appointments through a newly developed Guest Faculty Monitoring and Management System (GFMS) in Madhya Pradesh. Govt colleges in the state will no longer be allowed to appoint guest faculty at their discretion. The system is being designed to streamline recruitment, attendance, salary processing, grievance redressal, and issuance of experience certificates for guest faculty. Implementation is expected to begin in June and be fully operational within three months. As part of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, undergraduate courses are being made more flexible and multidisciplinary in the upcoming session 2025-26. To meet the new academic requirements, the department plans to recruit guest faculty centrally. Through the GFMS, prospective faculty members will be able to self-register and undergo verification online. Details of vacancies across 55 major govt colleges will be available on the platform, and the entire recruitment process will be automated, saving time and ensuring transparency. Post-appointment, all processes including attendance, leave, transfers, and salary payments will be integrated into the system. Additionally, a bilingual mobile app (Hindi and English) will allow faculty to mark attendance, monitor performance via ratings, receive experience certificates, and raise grievances, all in one place. Monthly reports and an analytical dashboard will help the department monitor the system closely. In Indore district, six main govt colleges, including Govt Holkar Science College, Govt Maharani Laxmibai Girls PG College, and Mata Jijabai Govt PG Girls College will also transition to this system. Previously, colleges recruited guest faculty through local registration, either under the self-finance scheme or through Janbhagidari committee. However, new appointments were largely stalled since 2019 due to high court directives. The new GFMS platform aims to bring all such processes under a unified and transparent digital framework.
