CM inaugurates new govt Urdu library

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Govt Urdu Library on Ashok Rajpath. Considering the abundance of books in the library and the increasing number of readers and researchers, an administrative approval of Rs 3.07 crore was granted in 2021 under the state scheme for the construction of this G + 4 building. The library has approximately 40,000 books and has a total of 1,057 permanent members. It has a rare collection of Urdu newspapers from its establishment year, 1938, which are made available to researchers as required for their research. It also has a collection of 84 books of "The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi " and other rare books. In addition to the Urdu script, books in English, Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic, and Hindi are also available in this library. The Urdu collection includes books and magazines on poetry, literature, novels, medical science, history, economics, geography, mathematics, logic, law, and other subjects. Books related to competitive examinations in Urdu, including DElEd, undergraduate, postgraduate, and general competitive exams, are available here. Books on various subjects related to general competitive examinations and NCERT books from Class III to Class XII, library science, and journalism are also available at the library. Additionally, important and competitive examination magazines in Hindi, English, and Urdu are received monthly, and Hindi, English, and Urdu newspapers are regularly subscribed. Education minister Sunil Kumar and additional chief secretary of education department S Siddharth welcomed the CM.
