Grandville PD: Child, mom hospitalized after sedan trapped under trucks
GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Bystanders pulled a child from a car that was rear-ended and then trapped under two pickup trucks, police say.
It happened at the intersection of 28th Street and Ottawa Avenue in Grandville around 4:55 p.m. Friday. The Grandville Police Department said in a release that the initial report officers got was of two trucks on top of each other and an injured child.
Police say a westbound pickup truck failed to stop for traffic lined up at a red light and rear-ended a sedan. The sedan was shoved forward under another pickup in front of it. The pickup that hit the back of the car came to a rest on top of it, the release said.
A child in the back seat of the car was trapped, but freed by bystanders before emergency responders arrived.
The child was taken to the hospital. Police did not indicate house serious the child's injuries were.
The child's mother was also taken to the hospital as a precaution with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
