Lisa Curry shares heartbreaking birthday tribute to late daughter Jaimi - almost five years after her tragic death

Lisa Curry has paid a sweet tribute to her late daughter Jaimi, on what would have been her 38th birthday. Jaimi, Lisa's eldest daughter with ex-husband Grant Kenny, died in September 2020 following an 18-year battle with alcohol addiction and anorexia. The former Olympian, 63, took to Instagram this week to share a series of sweet images showing Lisa with Jaimi and her siblings Jett and Morgan. She also shared photos that showed her sitting in shallow water holding a small Sonny Angel figurine. Lisa was seen holding the figurine tightly and giving it a tender kiss, suggesting that it held sentimental value for her daughter. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Lisa, who is currently holidaying in Italy with her husband Mark Tabone, revealed that giving birth to Jaimi was the 'best day' of her life. 'Happy birthday to our angel Jaimi. Not a day goes by without mentioning her in some way and always spoken about,' she captioned the emotional tribute. 'The best day of my life 38 years ago when I became a mummy for the first time.' Continuing her heart-rending post, Lisa revealed she had scattered some of Jaimi's ashes in the water, while Jami's friend had also scattered some ashes in France. 'She's with me here in Italy, came for a swim with me, and then my friend Georgie and I left some ashes in the beautiful waters of Sardinia,' she said. 'She's also in France today in the lavender fields with her friend Millie. 'All our family celebrating her life today in their own way. Never forgotten. Forever young and beautiful Resting in peace.' Lisa's post was met with an outpouring of support from friends and followers. The former Olympian, 63, took to Instagram this week to share a series of sweet images showing Lisa with Jaimi and siblings Jett and Morgan. All pictured 'And how proud she would be to know that you're still there for others. Sharing your care and love in the hope that others can recover,' one follower offered. 'Her sweet face is imprinted on Australia's heart.' Another added a similar sentiment: 'You are in my heart and thoughts. I know too well how heartbreaking this terrible illness is that took your gorgeous girl,' summing up the sentiment of many. It comes after Lisa revealed she was in 'recovery' following the tragic death of her daughter Jaimi. In January last year, Lisa said she had finally gotten herself back to the gym after '3 1/2 years of sadness and grief'. Her recent sessions with a personal trainer were necessitated by her hip replacement surgery last year. Lisa injured herself in 2023 while husky dog sledding in Yukon, Canada. She slipped on the ice, which caused her to fall and break her hip. The athlete also recently revealed she has officially given up alcohol after suffering a terrifying health scare while holidaying in Fiji. She shared a raw and deeply personal update to Instagram last month, posting a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed in Queensland, looking weary. 'Just a little overnight stay in hospital,' Lisa captioned the photo, before taking her followers on a sobering journey through her long battle with serious heart issues - and her decision to give up booze for good. Jaimi died in September 2020 following an 18-year battle with alcohol addiction and anorexia. Lisa and Grant Kenny wed in 1984, separated in 2009, and during their marriage welcomed three children together: son Jett, 31, and daughters Morgan, 34, and Jaimi. Announcing the sad news on social media, Lisa wrote: 'Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side.'
