Urbana seeking Emergency Roof Repair Grant program applicants
URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Urbana is accepting applications for its Emergency Roof Repair Grant program while funds last.
The city's Grants Management Division is seeking applicants for this program, which aims to repair hazardous or damaged roofing conditions for owner-occupied units, especially those that have conditions that pose a threat to the safety of the occupants in the home.

This grant distributes a maximum of $15,000 per project. Additionally, these grants are given out to eligible households on a first-come, first-serve basis while the funds are still available.
This specific program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, and the funds received must be expended by the end of the 2026 calendar year.
In order to qualify for the program, applicants have to own and have lived in the home to be repaired for a minimum of one year, have homeowners' insurance and have a total household income of a maximum of 80% of the area median family income as determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
