Nashik civic body's standing committee approves Rs81cr road projects

Nashik: The standing committee of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Wednesday approved proposals of the civic administration to issue work orders to the contractors concerned for various road works in the city, amounting to Rs 81 crore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Most of the works involve resurfacing roads that were dug up by Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) for laying pipelines for piped natural gas (PNG). Additionally, other roads that were damaged during the monsoon in 2024 and temporarily repaired, are also set to be repaired by the civic body. NMC commissioner and administrator Manisha Khatri approved various proposals to issue work orders to the concerned contractors for road repair works . The NMC administration conducted the tender process for these works in March, following the approval of the General Body meeting of the NMC. The civic administration then finalized the contractors for the projects. The condition of the city roads deteriorated during the rainy season last year as potholes surfaced extensively. NMC undertook temporary pothole-filling works using Granular Sub Base (GSB) materials. However, the potholes resurfaced due to rains. After taking charge in Dec last year, NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri took cognizance of the issue instructed the PWD officials to make the city roads pothole-free and start identifying potholes across the city. Subsequently, the tender process for carrying out the works began.
