Where to
Find Cord End
in Elden Ring Nightreign?
Getting your hands on Cord End isn't straightforward — it's a random drop, but there are hotspots where your chances spike:
The Broken Church near Limveld
: Smash every crate inside. One of them has a strong chance of dropping the Cord End.
Treasure Altars and Hidden Chests
: Especially around ruined shrines and decayed towers.
Elite Enemy Drops
: Some Night Wraiths and Scar Lords have been known to drop it, especially during nightfall events.
Keep in mind: Cord End takes up inventory space.
Don't hoard it unless you're ready to use it — death could wipe it.
How to Use Cord End
(And Where)
Once you've got the Cord End, head to The Shattered Basin, just north of the Crimson Bridge, tucked beneath a jagged rock face. You'll find an old vault door inscribed with the phrase:
'Only those bound by thread may pass.'
Approach with the Cord End in your inventory, and the door will unlock automatically. No prompts, no extra dialogue — it just opens.
Inside? You'll find:
3x Sacrificial Twig Talismans
– Prevent rune loss and level drops on death
1x Hidden Lore Scroll
– Unlocks a secret dialogue path with the NPC
Velra the Bound
Shadow Emote
– A rare gesture used to unlock one of Nightreign's hidden endings
Cord End is a one-time-use item and takes up inventory space. So only carry it when you're ready to head to the vault — no point in risking a pointless death and losing it mid-journey. Don't use the Cord End too early. This vault only unlocks once you've defeated the Gravetide Sentinel near the Sunken Ramparts. Without that, the door remains inert even with the item.
