After losing players like Gerrit Cole, Luis Gil, Marcus Stroman, Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm Jr. to significant injuries at various points this season, the Yankees have mixed and matched their way to a first-place standing in the division. But they have faced significant questions at third base since moving Chisholm to second for opening day and those questions have now grown louder. The team lost third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera to a brutal ankle injury during their latest series in Seattle and, with oft-injured veteran DJ LeMahieu as the immediate roster addition, the Yankees might have to look to an external addition. (Photo by)With that in mind, Grazel proposed a four-player swap that would see the Yankees trade reliever Ian Hamilton and prospects Everson Pereira and Carlos Lagrange to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm. "After an offseason of being involved in trade rumors, Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm continues to be mentioned in trade speculation," Grazel wrote. "Philly may not be a candidate to re-sign him, and it may not be in their best interest to do so. His name continues to be mentioned in trade rumors with other teams that may need a third baseman." After a second-half slump from last summer persisted into the playoffs and then into this season, Bohm seems to be losing at-bats with the Phillies. He's been dropped to the bottom of the batting order and has been kept out of a handful of Phillies games altogether so far. The Phillies floated his name for a potential trade this past winter, suggesting they have made their decision on his future with the team and are just waiting for the right deal to come along. If the Yankees are willing to give up a pair of strong prospects like Pereira and Lagrange, plus a much needed right-handed bullpen addition like Hamilton, the Phillies might find that deal courtesy of New York.
