Road closures announced for Heart Run and Walk

CENTRAL NEW YORK (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The American Heart Association has announced that several roads will be closed for America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk on Saturday, March 8. There will be four different walks going on during the event — an 18-mile, 10-mile and three-mile runs, as well as a three-mile walk. Because of this, there have been some traffic advisories issued from the town of Barneveld to the finish line at Utica University. The following traffic advisories have been issued for Saturday, March 8: Route 365: Between 7:30 am and 8:30 am, Route 365 will be closed to eastbound traffic between Mapledale Road and the town of Barneveld. Between 8 am and 10 am, it will be closed to eastbound traffic between Mapledale Road and Route 291. Route 291: Between 8 am and 10:30 am, Route 291 will be closed to northbound traffic between Oriskany Boulevard and Route 69 in Whitesboro and Route 365. Main Street in Whitesboro: Between 9 am and 10:30 am, Main Street in the Village of Whitesboro will be closed to westbound traffic. Mohawk Street: Between 9 am and 10:30 am, Mohawk Street in the towns of Whitestown and Marcy will be closed to all but local traffic between River Road in Marcy and Main Street in Whitesboro. Main Streets in New York Mills and Yorkville: Between 8:30 am and noon, Main Street in the villages of New York Mills and Yorkville will be closed totally between Burrstone Road and Oriskany Boulevard. Burrstone Road: Between 8 am and 1 pm, Burrstone Road will be closed to all traffic between Old Burrstone Road and Main Street in the village of New York Mills. Champlin Avenue: Between 8 am and noon, Champlin Avenue will be closed to all traffic between Burrstone Road and Graham Avenue. Traffic arriving at St. Luke's Hospital should approach from the north on Champlin Avenue in Yorkville. Clinton Street in New York Mills: Between 8:30 am and noon, Clinton Street in the village of New York Mills will be closed between Henderson Street and Burrstone Road. Elm Street, Young Avenue, Fairway Drive, Winchester Drive, Pulaski Street and Prospect Street in New York Mills, Cross Street in Yorkville: Between 8:30 am and 1 pm, these streets will be affected due to the closure of Winchester Drive at Burrstone Road, Fairway Drive at Young Avenue, and Cross Street. Yorkville Corners at Oriskany Boulevard and Main Street: Motorists are reminded that there will be a severe delay for east and westbound traffic on Oriskany Boulevard at this intersection. Traffic will be re-routed away from this intersection during the event. Business Park Drive and Washington Drive: From 9:30 am to 11 am, all traffic on Business Park Drive and Washington Drive will be controlled. French Road Ramp off Route 12 Arterial: From 8 am to 12:30 pm, the French Road Ramp off of the Route 12 Arterial will be closed to all Arterial Traffic. Patients and staff looking to get to Slocum-Dickson Medical Center must approach northbound on French Road and will be directed to the Center using that entrance. Motorists will be encouraged to exit the Route 12 Arterial on Lomond Place as the French Road exits will be closed. People looking to get to Notre Dame High School and all other places on Notre Dame Lane are also asked to enter from French Road by exiting the Route 12 Arterial at Lomond Place. You are asked to enter Notre Dame Lane from Business Park Drive. Drivers who encounter these situations are asked to be patient and obey all officials along the route.
