Blur's Alex James suggests ABBA-style avatar show as he talks future of Britpop legends
Blur's Alex James has suggested their future could look like an ABBA-style avatar show - or "respectfully" dipping in and out of playing together. The Britpop legends reunited in 2023 for the new album 'The Ballad of Darren' - their first in eight years - and a series of shows, including two sold-out nights at Wembley Stadium in the July, for what marked their first UK headline gigs since 2015. As for the future of the 'Parklife' band, bassist Alex had two suggestions. Speaking to Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits Radio, he said: "We got back together in 2023, made a new record and I think did our best ever run of shows. It's incredible how the music has endured and it was the first time we'd ever got to the end of an album or tour without at least one of us saying 'that's it, never again.' We didn't do many shows and I think that was probably a good place to leave it. There's two ways to go either the ABBA thing and stop at the top and just let it take its own course and make avatars of yourself when you were 27 and beautiful. Or treat it respectfully and dip in and out occasionally and it's a really wonderful thing to be able to step back into – that all those years of playing together is a gift actually. As long as you don't overcook it or annoy the guitar player or singer too much…" Elsewhere, Alex said he was thrilled former Britpop rivals Oasis are reuniting for their 'Oasis Live '25' Tour, though he's unsure if he will attend on of the gigs. He said: "I look back at [Britpop] now and just think 'what a brilliant time. Two brilliant bands, if I say so myself, both really at the top of their game. I look back on it now with nothing but just really, really fond memories and I'm so delighted that they're getting back together. I'm not sure I'll be going [to see them] but I'm delighted for them…" Greatest Hits Radio airs Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm.

Natalie Imbruglia's 1997 classic Torn has finally hit No.1 in the UK
Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn' has made it to number one in the UK - almost three decades later. The 1997 classic narrowly missed out on the top spot to Aqua's 'Barbie Girl', but after 28 years, a new chart by Greatest Hits Radio from PPL, has sent it soaring to the top. The Top 30 Countdown of the Most Played Songs of the 21st Century from the '70s, '80s and '90s sees 'Torn' trump Police classic 'Every Step You Take' and Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' to pole position. The chart was commissioned as part of Greatest Hits Radio's Vinyl Revival for Cash for Kids Day on Thursday (01.05.25) and was revealed by host Kate Thornton on her afternoon show. Katie Price reveals tightened face after latest transformation while on dog walk
After Katie Price's latest cosmetic work, she's been spotted out and about on a walk with her new dog in Wales. The former glamour model, 46, is no stranger to going under the knife in the name of cosmetic procedures, and her latest facelift has transformed her look. With her new taut face on show, Katie was seen taking her Spaniel puppy Rookie for a walk while wearing a white t-shirt, a black fluffy cardigan, and some silvery sweatpants on Tuesday in Rhyl, North Wales, ahead of her Easter Pantomime Pinocchio at the Pavilion Theatre that evening. She also clutched a vape alongside her dog, who was secured in a pink harness and lead. While unveiling her healed face after her trip to Turkey in August last year Katie said she was 'finally happy' following the £10,000 lifting procedure, which marked her sixth facelift. But she wasn't totally satisfied, as since Katie has got lip filler and anti-wrinkle 'touch ups', adding to a long list of procedures she's put her body through, including 17 boob jobs, botox, nose jobs, eye lifts, tummy tucks, Brazilian but lifts, and liposuction. Katie also recently said she plans on getting her fourth BBL. This is despite concerns about how her body will respond to yet more procedures, with BBLs having the highest death rate of all cosmetic procedures. Dr Mark Solomos, a leading plastic surgeon, previously told Channel 4 show 10 Years Younger: 'The first thing I want to say about Katie is that no responsible surgeon would or should perform surgery on her.' The star has previously admitted she worries about her cosmetic surgeries eventually killing her. During a session with a clairvoyant, Katie was told that she would pass away peacefully in her sleep. The eerie prediction sent her into a spiral, as the mum-of-five was warned by her sister, Sophie, that the clairvoyant could be alluding to being under anaesthesia. 'I know this is really weird, but I was having a conversation with my sister on our podcast the other day,' Katie began in an interview with Greatest Hits Radio. 'And I remember when I was in America and I went and saw a lady with a crystal ball, you know, like a medium or clairvoyant or whatever they're called. I know not many people would ask that, but I did. 'She said, 'Oh, you're going to die in your sleep peacefully.' And then my sister said, 'And you're going for surgery, you'll probably die in your sleep'.' Katie added: 'That sort of triggered something in my head. And I was like, 'Do you know what? Imagine if that is,' because the amount of times I've been put to sleep and that's stuck in my mind.' It also seems Katie isset on expanding her pet family regardless of warnings from charities not to. When the Mucky Mansion star first revealed her spaniel Rookie at 10 weeks old, she was faced withg huge backlash as animal charities begged her to stop owning pets after seven animals died in her care including horses, dogs, cats, and a chameleon. PETA even offered the TV personality £5,000 to sign a legally binding document to stop her from owning any in the future after she gave away a puppy called Tank after 'losing interest'. Responding to people who say she shouldn't own animals, Katie told The Sun: 'When people say I shouldn't have animals, it's circumstances that were out of my hands. 'It's no lack of me not looking after them or anything like that. I love animals, I love nurturing.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video While Katie's 2024 was a turbulent one, having been arrested at Heathrow Airport on her way back from Turkey in August after having failed to turn up to her bankruptcy hearing, this year is looking up. That's what Katie's psychic Tracey Woolterton – also known as Psychic Tracey – told Metro, anyway. More Trending 'I'm getting May for her. I also feel there's going to be a contract that's going to come her way, so she will be able to sort her finances out,' Tracey said. 'But the thing is with Katie, she's a spender. She needs to learn to reign it in and start saving. I feel it will be to do with TV.' It seems Katie's career prospects are already looking up, as she was recently spotted on a film set of a spoof film called Jackie The Stripper, which sees the TV personality play Lisa, the titular Jackie's mentor in the world of strip clubs and dancing. She stars in it alongside actor James Phelps, 39, who played Fred Weasley in Harry Potter, as well as Charlotte Kirk (Duchess), Jamie Lomas (Hollyoaks), Chloe Meadows (Stigma), and Kimberly Wyatt (13 Going On 30).
