He was signed under Neil Lennon after Kieran Tierney had left for Arsenal that summer. And with the Hoops icon poised to officially return to his boyhood heroes in the coming weeks, Taylor will be heading out the door. According to The Celtic Way, Taylor's exit will be finalised within the next 48 hours. The Celtic left-back had several options to mull over as his contract with the Hoops ran down. PAOK emerged as serious contenders for Taylor and drew up a two-year deal, with an option for a further 12 months. PAOK technical director Christos Karipidis - the former Hearts defender - is driving the move. Karipidis is a big fan of the Hoops star and has been desperate to lure him to Thessaloniki. It's understood that Taylor, who recently became a father for the first time, needed time to assess the move after six years at Celtic. However PAOK didn't want to wait indefinitely and there have been other clubs in the mix for the left-back. Rangers fans react as 49ers takeover completed But now he looks set to embark on the next chapter of his career in Greece. Brendan Rodgers has always retained hope his full-back would stay and his Parkhead exit has yet to be confirmed. PAOK finished third in the Greek Super League last season and qualified for the Europa League, which they will enter at the third qualifying round stage. Dinamo Zagreb were the first club to be linked to Taylor and interest from MLS soon followed. He was even tipped for a blockbuster move to Rangers by SunSport's Kris Boyd at one point. If - or when - Taylor seals his move to Greece, he could soon find himself coming up against former boss Ange Postecoglou. The ex-Celtic manager is listed at 3/1 to join AEK Athens after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur last week. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Brighton launch £34m bid for Greek wonderkid Charalampos Kostoulas
Brighton & Hove Albion have submitted a £34 million offer for Olympiacos forward Charalampos Kostoulas. The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe's top young talents after a breakthrough year in both domestic and continental competition. Advertisement Brighton had previously offered around £30 million plus Abdallah Sima, but Olympiacos want a cash-only deal with a sell-on clause included. Kostoulas scored seven goals and registered two assists across the Greek Super League and Europa League this season. He was also instrumental in Olympiacos' triumph in the UEFA Youth League, scoring five goals in eight matches. His campaign was cut short by a muscle injury, but he played a key part in helping the club reclaim the Greek title. Kostoulas, whose contract runs until 2030, has also represented Greece at youth level, scoring five goals in 15 appearances across various age groups. Advertisement Brighton are confident of completing a deal and remain in advanced talks with the Greek club. Chelsea have been linked with the player, but there is no indication that they have submitted an offer. Brighton's full financial package is worth close to £39.6m, although final terms are still being negotiated.

Greg Taylor 'reaches' Celtic transfer exit decision as former Premier League striker gets Parkhead transfer pitch
Full back Taylor's contract in Glasgow's east end expired at the end of May Greg Taylor is reportedly one step closer to joining PAOK after agreeing contract terms with the Greek side. The defender is set to bring his six-year stay with Celtic to an end this summer, with the out-of-contract full back free to speak to other clubs. Brendan Rodgers had hoped to keep the Scotland international at Parkhead by offering him a new contract, but with Kieran Tierney sealing his sensational Hoops return next month, the 27-year-old looks set to move on in search of guaranteed first team football. Reports in Greece had claimed that PAOK - who finished third in the Greek Super League last season - had set a deadline for Taylor to accept their contract proposal. But according to Sportdog, Taylor has now struck an agreement with the club after reaching an agreement over financial terms. They claim that the former Kilmarnock youngster is poised to pen a two-year deal with the Thessaloniki side, with the option of an additional year. However, the source adds that Taylor still needs to sit down with his family to get the greenlight for the move to the continent, having only given birth to a baby daughter with his partner in February. They do add however that PAOK are prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the left back feels welcomed at his new club. Elsewhere, Celtic have been tipped to sign ex Liverpool and Aston Villa star Danny Ings. The 32-year-old is set to leave West Ham on a free transfer at the end of the month and was tentatively linked to the Hoops back in January. And Parkead hero Frank McAvennie reckons Ings would be an adequate replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi, who left Celtic for Rennes in a £10million deal in the mid-season transfer window. Speaking to on the Let Me Be Frank podcast, he said: "He would be a great signing for Celtic. We never replaced Kyogo. They haven't replaced him. "Adam Idah is learning. I think he is going to be a wonderful player. Not near the finished article yet. But he is a great player. Looks like an honest boy. "I think so (there is a future for Idah at Celtic). See if you sign someone like Danny Ings. Danny won't play every game, which will mean Adam will come in. "And I don't want to play Maeda through the middle. I think he is better on the wing, although he scores a lot of goals. I think he is better out there. He terrifies people. "Danny Ings would come in and play, even if he played an hour. Get Adam on, that's the way it's going to be."

Greg Taylor ‘considering offer from European club significantly higher than Celtic salary'
GREG TAYLOR is weighing up his next move after receiving an official approach from a European club, according to a report. The Celtic left-back is out of contract this summer and is set to quit the Hoops amid the looming arrival of fan favourite Kieran Tierney. 2 Greg Taylor is poised to leave Celtic this summer Credit: Alamy 2 The defender has an offer on the table Credit: Kenny Ramsay Brendan Rodgers has made it abundantly clear that he wants to hold onto Taylor beyond this season but the Scotland international seemingly has other ideas. He's been in talks with Celtic for a number of months but both parties have failed to reach an agreement. And Taylor isn't short of options as several European sides have expressed interest. We told you in January how Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb were readying an approach. But since then he's also emerged as a shock target for Greek side PAOK, with both teams expected to battle it out for his signature. Now latest reports out of Greece suggest PAOK have taken the lead in the transfer race after launching a concrete approach for him this week. Sportal claim the Thessaloniki outfit have tabled an offer which includes a two-year contract, with an option to extend for another year. It's suggested he will also receive a 'significantly improved' salary package compared to what he's earned at Celtic. Taylor is currently in Dubai with his family and has yet to make a decision on his future. The left-back will leave Celtic for nothing if he agrees terms with the Greek side or any other club this summer. PAOK boss Razvan Lucescu has watched the defender in action in the Champions League so believes he would be ideal for his side's tilt at Europe next season. PAOK finished third in the Greek Super League last season, qualifying them for a crack at the Europa League. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Rangers placed on Vaclav Cerny red alert over Wolfsburg 'fire sale' as Cyriel Dessers makes transfer stance clear
Cerny enjoyed a superb campaign at Ibrox despite his team's struggles - registering 18 goals and nine assists in 52 matches Rangers' chances of signing Vaclav Cerny on a permanent basis have been boosted after parent club Wolfsburg's financial woes were revealed. The Czech Republic international caught the eye in his season-long loan spell at Ibrox, scoring 18 goals and nine assists in 52 matches for a Gers team that finished the campaign without a trophy. The 27-year-old is set to return to Germany later this summer for pre-season but reports in Turkey claim that Trabzonspor are preparing a £9million bid for the winger. However, Wolfsburg's latest accounts could suggest that the Bundesliga side will be forced to sell players on the cheap this summer. Die Wolfe had a disappointing season in 2025/26, finishing in 11th place - seven points adrift of the top half. Former Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl took up the reins last summer but was sacked with two weeks of the campaign still remaining while the departures of club legend and managing director Marcel Schafer also caused further upheavel. The Volkswagen Arena side banked £40million from the sale of Micky van der Ven to Tottenham in 2023 but have since splashed out huge sums on the likes of Lovro Majer, Joakim Maele and Tiago Tomas. Cerny arrived in Germany from FC Twente in the summer of 2023 for around £8million and has scored five times in 25 matches for Wolfsburg. As reported by Braunschweiger-Zeitung, the German Football League (DFL) have now published the financial figures of each club in the top-flight from the 2023/24 season - and it doesn't make good reading for Wolfsburg. The accounts show that the 2009 Bundesliga winners have made a loss of just over €15 million (£12.63million), a staggering drop from the €118,000 (£99, 362) profit published in the previous calendar year. Wolfsburg's new managing director Michael Meeske added: "Despite higher revenue from marketing, a deficit was incurred. The balance sheet was also impacted by the transfer activities." Elsewhere, Gers frontman Cyriel Dessers insists he is happy at Ibrox and has shut down talk of a summer exit. The Nigeria international - who netted 29 goals in 55 matches last season - has been linked with a move to Greek Super League duo Olympiakos and AEK Athens. However the 30-year-old is adamant he won't be going anywhere and is looking forward to a break before reporting back to Auchenhowie for pre-season on June 30. Speaking to SportsBoom, he said: "I still have two years left on my contract with Rangers. It's a fantastic club, and I'm happy there. "When you score that number of goals, it's normal for other teams to show interest. I've seen the links with Olympiacos, but I don't know anything specific about that. "These kinds of rumours are normal, but for now, I'm staying focused and looking forward to enjoying my holiday in a few weeks."
