Falcons to face off against the Colts in Germany next season
The Atlanta Falcons will be heading back to Europe this season for a Week 10 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. The team hasn't been very successful in games played across the pond, going 1-2 in three previous matchups -- each of which was played in London. Atlanta's most recent International Series game was a 23-7 loss to the Jaguars in 2023. Luckily for the Falcons, this isn't a designated home game and they still get to play eight games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this season. Advertisement While this is the first time the Falcons will play in Germany, it likely won't be the last. In 2023, the team became the fifth club to join in the German international market with the Panthers, Chiefs, Buccaneers, and Patriots. "We are very excited about the opportunity to help grow the NFL internationally," said Atlanta Falcons President, Greg Beadles, back in 2023 regarding being granted market rights to Germany. "The league and the clubs have put a lot of effort into cultivating fanbases overseas and we are all seeing positive results from that effort. We view this as a long-term investment in continuing to grow the game of football and look forward to helping introduce America's game to new audiences." Growing the league internationally has been a focal point for a very long time in the NFL, so it wouldn't be shocking to see the Falcons play a home game next in Berlin or Munich after being granted these rights. The Buccaneers, Patriots, and Chiefs, who were granted German rights before the Falcons, have seen their markets expand to Austria and Switzerland, meaning the Falcons could follow suite if they can successfully showcase themselves in Germany. The entire 2025 NFL season schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 14.
