Celebrations as award-winning Dundalk bar Russell's Saloon celebrates 10 years under new ownership
Today at 02:00 When Dundalk publican Greg Gormley opened Russell's Saloon at 28 Park Street in 2015, he little thought that five year's later, the shutters of his newly acquired premises would be closed for 120 days during the longest lockdown in Europe. Established in 1907, the venerable establishment had survived the War of Independence, Civil War, and two World Wars, so it's probably not surprising that he is celebrating ten years of surviving in an increasingly difficult business.

Tenth birthday celebrations in Russell's Bar
Dundalk After Dark The Argus Today at 15:34 On Saturday night I headed for Russells Bar to see how their ten year celebrations were taking place. It certainly doesn't seem like a decade since Greg Gormley took over and completely transformed the pub into one of the most popular bars on the Park Street strip. A huge crowd had been there for the solo performance by Stewart Agnew on Friday night and the crowds were out in force for DJs Paddy Coleman and Mark Quigley who were ready to raise the roof on the Saturday night.
