ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — News 8's Primetime 585 Shining Star spotlights students who are making a positive impact on their school communities through sport. Friday's Shining Star features Penn Yann freshman, Greyson Hathway.
Hathway is recognized as the first seventh grader to play lacrosse at the varsity level since 1989. On June 12, he broke the New York State faceoff win record for a single sitting, earning him the number one spot in the state.
He is also a varsity football and junior varsity basketball player for Penn Yann.
Outside of sports, he excels as an honor roll student and plays the trumpet in addition to being an active 4-H member.
Hathway will go on to play in the state championships scheduled for Saturday at Hobart.
News 8 and Primetime 585 congratulate Greyson Hathway on his achievements thus far and wish him the best of luck in the championship!
