Concord University Research Festival highlights student academics
ATHENS, WV (WVNS) – Students at Concord University are being recognized for their academic commitment as the school's annual Research Festival returned the week of Friday, April 18th, each spring by the university's Department of Social Sciences, the event gives students an opportunity to display their research in a discipline of their choosing.
Concord University professor, Karen Griffee says the festival offers a great opportunity for students to gain valuable experience that can benefit them as they continue their education or move into the professional world.'Part of the idea too is it gives them a chance to get that on their resume,' Griffee told 59News. 'It can really help with students who are wanting to get into grad school or go into a career in a particular field to say that they've done this.'
This year's festival also featured a distinguished guest speaker, Dr. James Ingram, an Assistant Professor for the Department of Educational Specialties at North Arizona State University. As part of his keynote speech, Ingram touched on equitable outcomes for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
With the valuable experience of this year's Research Festival under their belts, Concord students will have an additional edge as they continue their journeys toward success.
