‘Shocked': Foo Fighters member fired after affair scandal

Just months after David Grohl's affair rocked iconic band the Foo Fighters to its core, a key member has been sacked , with the outgoing musician now speaking out. Josh Freese, the group's drummer who was rumoured to be the permanent replacement for the late Taylor Hawkins, has announced he has been fired. 'The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they've decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer',' he wrote. 'No reason was given,' he added. 'Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band. 'In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I've never been let go from a band, so while I'm not angry—just a bit shocked and disappointed.' 'As most of you know I've always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I'm fine,' he wrote. 'Stay tuned for my 'Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters' list'.' Freese, who has played worked with other iconic bands including Queen, Nine Inch Nails, Guns N' Roses, Stone Age, the Vandels and Sting, had joined the Foo Fighters in 2023 after playing a tribute concert for the late Hawkins in 2022. Hawkins passed away in 2022 in Bogota, Colombia. The iconic band member had reportedly experienced pains in his chest while on tour, later passing away. He was 50-years-old. An investigation into his death revealed Hawkins had 10 substances in his system when he died at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel. Freese's sacking comes after the band was engulfed by scandal in 2024 when Grohl revealed he had fathered a child from an affair. Grohl confirmed he had a child with Jennifer Young, 38, while he was married to Jordyn Blum, who he shares three children with. 'I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,' Grohl wrote in a statement. 'I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. 'I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.' If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . Despite speculation initially suggesting Grohl and Blum were set to divorce after the child was born following the affair, sources close to the couple later said the two were trying to work things out. Around 6 months after the affair was made public, a source claimed Blum had 'forgiven' Grohl. 'Jordyn has forgiven Dave and is trying to move on. She is [still] completely devastated by the situation but is standing by his side,' they told US Weekly. 'They are going to counselling, and Dave has been doing anything he can to win back Jordyn's trust. Neither of them wants the family broken.'

Watch Dave Grohl Get Funky With LCD Soundsystem Cover

Dave Grohl has always quietly loved dance music, even lacing Nirvana's Nevermind with parts borrowed from disco drummers. He showcased that funkier side at a school benefit Saturday night at the Los Angeles club Avalon Hollywood, busting out a rocked-up cover of LCD Soundsystem's 'Daft Punk is Playing At My House' — his first-ever performance of a song by that New York band. 'If you listen to Nevermind,' Grohl told Pharrell during an episode of From Cradle to Stage in 2021. 'I pulled so much stuff from The Gap Band and Cameo and [Chic's] Tony Thompson on every one of those songs … that's old disco.' Grohl played the benefit with a band that included Foo Fighters keyboardist Rami Jaffee, Foos engineer John Lousteau on drums, and bassist Wiley Hodgden, who used to play with the late drummer Taylor Hawkins. Luke Spiller of the Struts joined Grohl for a duet on Queen and David Bowie's 'Under Pressure' and Lisa Loeb came onstage to help him sing Bowie's 'Moonage Daydream.' Grohl also covered the Knack's 'My Sharona.' In 2021, the Foo Fighters unveiled a side project known as the Dee Gees, releasing Hail Satin, a set of Bee Gees covers. Their album that year, Medicine at Midnight, was unusually danceable for the group. Grohl reunited with his Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic, along with Pat Smear, at the FireAid benefit concert, where they performed with guest vocalists including St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, and Grohl's daughter Violet. In February, the same trio joined forces with Post Malone for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' at Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary celebration. Last month, Grohl contributed drums to 'I Feel Alive,' a track featuring Jack Black for the A Minecraft Movie soundtrack. He also popped up at Coachella's second weekend, joining the Los Angeles Philharmonic for orchestral renditions of 'The Sky Is a Neighborhood' and 'Everlong.' Dave Grohl performs Foo Fighters songs at Coachella for first time since affair and baby drama

Dave Grohl is back in a Foo groove. The singer-guitarist delivered orchestral renditions of Foo Fighters faves 'Everlong' and 'The Sky Is a Neighborhood' at Coachella on Saturday. The surprise appearance — with Venezuelan maestro Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Outdoor Theatre of the Indio, California festival — was the first time the 56-year-old rocker returned to his Foo frontman role since the Post exclusively confirmed the mother of his love child's identity as Jennifer Young. The trio was also joined by Post Malone at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert in February. But Grohl hadn't performed any Foo Fighters songs live since making the shock announcement about his newborn out of wedlock. 'I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. 'We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.' In February, The Post broke the news that Young — a Florida-born rock 'n' roll fan who now resides in Los Angeles — was the mother of Grohl's new daughter. And records obtained by The Post showed that their nearly 9-month-old child — who Young is raising in a modest house with her own mother — has Grohl's last name. 5 Jennifer Young confirmed to The Post that she was the mother of Dave Grohl's love child in February. Dave Grohl Spotted Out with Wife Jordyn Blum 6 Months After His Secret Baby Announcement

Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum were spotted on a public outing, more than six months after the Nirvana alum's announcement that he had become the father of a baby girl born outside of their marriage. The Foo Fighters frontman, 56, and his wife of nearly 22 years were seen smiling as they walked in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, Calif., on Sunday, March 16. Grohl wore a black long-sleeved shirt, black cargo shorts, glasses and a baseball hat, and Blum, 46, sported a black sweatshirt, green track pants, dark sunglasses and a red leather purse. The longtime couple wed in 2003 and are parents to daughters Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. They were last seen out together out in February, which marked the first time they had been spotted together since the news broke that Grohl had welcomed another daughter. At the time, the couple did not appear to be wearing their wedding rings. In September 2024, Grohl announced he had welcomed "a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage" in a statement on Instagram. As for Blum and their children, he said, 'I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.' A source close to Blum told PEOPLE at the time of the announcement that she had known "for a while" about Grohl's baby news. "She was shocked when she found out about the baby. Her friends are like family, and they rallied around her," another friend of Blum's told PEOPLE. Over the years, "Dave's flirty behavior has been a hurdle in their marriage. It's been hurtful to Jordyn," the Blum source added. In December, another source told PEOPLE that Grohl and Blum were trying to move on, noting that their marriage 'is still not in great shape' but 'they are trying to move forward.' 'It was just such a shock for Jordyn. Her first instinct was that she wanted a divorce. The betrayal felt too heavy,' the insider said at the time. 'But as weeks passed, she got some space to think and it just felt very sad to her if the family would split up.' An insider added to PEOPLE that same month that Blum 'had time to process everything,' and remained focused on her kids. 'She doesn't want to make any hasty decisions, since it's all affecting their girls,' the source explained. 'She's still unhappy and not wearing her wedding ring, but things have calmed down.' Mother of Dave Grohl's new baby ‘revealed' after months of secrecy

A woman claiming to be the mother of Dave Grohl 's new baby has come forward. The Foo Fighters frontman shocked fans last year when he revealed that he had fathered a child outside of his 21-year marriage to Jordryn Blum. In an Instagram statement, the 55-year-old admitted to cheating on Blum and fathering a daughter as a result. 'I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,' he wrote. 'I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.' Now, a woman named Jennifer Young has claimed that she is the mother of the musician's baby daughter. The Florida-born woman told Page Six that her baby was born on 1 August 2024 and that the child has Grohl's surname on her birth certificate. Young did not give the publication her daughter's name, explaining that 'there's some really angry fans' so 'protecting her identity is really important'. The Independent has contacted a representative of Grohl for comment. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Dave Grohl (@davestruestories) Young is said to be living a life out of the spotlight in Los Angeles, where the mother and child are often spotted taking walks around the block. Young appears to be a music fan, having had Paul McCartney lyrics and the Metallica logo tattooed on her body. Grohl's original statement was posted one month after the birth of his alleged daughter with Young. In it, he said: 'We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.' Grohl didn't disclose any further details about the new baby or the mother of the child. In February, Grohl was seen out with his wife for the first time since the announcement. The pair were photographed driving in a black BMW. The rock star first met his wife Blum, 48, at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar in 2001. In a 2007 interview with Elle, Grohl admitted that he stopped calling Blum after they went on a few first dates, realizing that he wasn't ready for commitment. 'When I first met my wife, we went out on a few dates and I decided that I wasn't ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling,' he recalled. 'After three months, I had a revelation and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, 'Oh, I never thought I'd hear from you again.'' They eventually tied the knot in their Los Angeles home on August 2, 2003. They welcomed three children together: Violet Maye, Harper Willow, and Ophelia Saint, born in 2006, 2009, and 2014, respectively. The former Nirvana drummer has long been a self-avowed family man, often noting that he hates to spend time away from his family while touring. He recalled to Time in 2009: 'I used to tour nine months out of the year. Now I don't like being away from my kids for more than 12 days.' 'It's changed everything that I do,' he said at the time. 'When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It's inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting.' Although he said he plans on being a 'loving and supportive parent' to his new daughter, Grohl has not shed light on what the new parenting situation could look like.
