Blue Bell creamery in Bossier City ships out new 'Cookie Cake' flavor
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Blue Bell Creamery in Bossier City has released a new flavor for ice cream lovers. Blue Bell Creameries has announced the return of its newest flavor, 'Cookie Cake Ice Cream.' This flavor was first introduced in 2019 for a limited time but has not been available in stores since 2020. Cookie Cake Ice Cream is filled with pieces of chocolate chip cookie cake and swirls of chocolate and vanilla icing. Consumers are urged to keep an eye out, as the flavor will be in stores for a limited time. Groom's Cake Ice Cream will also be available for consumers. The flavor was the winner of the Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament, a bracket-style contest in which fans voted on which discontinued ice cream flavors they wanted to see return. Groom's Cake Ice Cream came in first, and Cookie Cake Ice Cream was the runner-up. Groom's Cake was introduced back in 2009 but has not been available in stores since 2018. Blue Bell bringing back beloved ice cream flavor ahead of summer
Blue Bell Creameries is bringing back a beloved ice cream flavor ahead of the summer season. On Thursday, the Brenham, Texas-based ice cream company announced the return of its Groom's Cake Ice Cream, which is made with Blue Bell Milk Chocolate Ice Cream that is mixed with chocolate cake pieces, chocolate-coated strawberry hearts, strawberry sauce and chocolate icing. "Blue Bell is excited to release these returning fan favorite ice cream flavors for a limited time, just in time for the perfect ice cream eating weather!" a spokesperson for Blue Bell told "Good Morning America" via email. The pink Groom's Cake flavor, first introduced in 2009 and discontinued at shops in 2018, was fans' No. 1 pick in Blue Bell's The Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament last year and will now be available in pints and half-gallon cartons for a limited time. "We are excited to have Groom's Cake back in stores this year," Kelli Remmert, Blue Bell's marketing communications manager, said in a statement."It is always difficult to say goodbye to an ice cream flavor that you love. Being able to interact with our fans and hear directly from them is always fun. We plan to have another flavor tournament in the future, and we know the competition will be just as sweet." Groom's Cake will be on shelves alongside Blue Bell's Bride's Cake flavor, an almond ice cream flavor that's mixed with white cake pieces and amaretto cream cheese icing swirl, the creamery explained in an Instagram post. Blue Bell also plans to reintroduce the runner-up flavor from the Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament -- Cookie Cake -- later in May. "The competition was fierce because our fans are very passionate about Blue Bell Ice Cream," Remmert said. "We are happy to be able to bring back not one, but two favorite flavors." The Cookie Cake flavor, a natural fit for sweet tooths, is made with sweet cream ice cream that is mixed with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and chocolate and vanilla icing swirls. This flavor will also be sold in pints and half-gallon cartons.
