Anthropic boss: ‘huge demand' for our AI models in the UK
Anthropic is seeing 'tremendous' growth in the UK market, the company's boss said, and it plans to create 100 roles in Europe, including London. Guillaume Princen, Anthropic's new head of its business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said that the artificial intelligence company was seeing 'huge demand' in the UK. 'We're seeing tremendous traction, demand and growth in the UK market. Companies like WPP are using us extensively,' Princen added. The artificial intelligence start-up is introducing its next generation of models for Claude, its family of large language models. The Claude Opus 4, its most powerful model yet, has the ability to work continuously for several hours and is, according to several benchmarks, the best coding model yet released by any AI start-up

Anthropic introduces $200 monthly Claude chatbot subscription
US-based AI company Anthropic is set to introduce a Max plan for its Claude chatbot, priced at $100 or $200 per month depending on usage. This new offering aims to test consumer willingness to pay for enhanced access to advanced AI models. The $100 plan allows users to send five times more queries than the current $18-per-month Pro plan, while the $200 option offers 20 times the usage. Currently, Pro users can send at least 45 messages to Claude over a five-hour period, as stated by Anthropic. Similar to other AI companies, Anthropic is encouraging customers and businesses to invest in its software to offset the high costs of developing cutting-edge AI models. This move mirrors a $200-per-month subscription launched by OpenAI for its ChatGPT chatbot, which includes unlimited usage of its most powerful AI models, Bloomberg reported. Anthropic said that Max plan subscribers will receive more substantial responses to their queries and have prioritised requests during peak traffic. Additionally, Max subscribers will gain preferential access to new AI models and software features. Anthropic's latest model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, offers users the choice between quick answers or more detailed, human-like reasoning responses. In March, Anthropic secured $3.5bn in funding at a valuation of $61.5bn. US-based AI company Anthropic plans to create more than 100 new roles across Europe, as part of its regional expansion, Reuters has reported. The expansion comes as the company appointed Guillaume Princen as the head of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The new positions, primarily in Dublin and London, will span sales, engineering, research and business operations, the report added. Commenting on the plans, Princen said: 'The expansion in Europe and the UK is crucial as businesses increasingly require advanced AI capabilities.' Anthropic is backed by tech giants Amazon and Google, which had invested more than $1bn in the AI company earlier in 2025. The company launched Claude 3.7 Sonnet, its latest hybrid reasoning model in February 2025 to improve coding and front-end web development tasks. This model is designed to deliver near-instant responses while also offering users the option to view more detailed, step-by-step reasoning. Claude, Anthropic's AI chatbot, is currently deployed by several firms, including advertising conglomerate WPP, automaker BMW, and pharmaceutical group Novo Nordisk. In March 2025, Anthropic raised $3.5bn in a funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, reaching a post-money valuation of $61.5bn.
