Eight bootleggers booked under GJCTOC in Vadodara
Vadodara: Warasia police have booked eight members of a bootlegging gang under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GJCTOC) Act. According to police, the accused are habitual offenders involved in crimes ranging from liquor smuggling and extortion to forgery and Arms Act violations. The gang is allegedly led by Alpesh alias Sindhi Vadhwani, a well-known bootlegger with links to several other criminals. "Of the eight, three have been arrested, two are already in jail, and one is suffering from serious health issues. We are currently trying to track down Vadhwani and Dharmesh Sachdev alias Golu," said CB Tandel, police inspector of the Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB). This is the fourth gang in the city to be booked under the GJCTOC Act, following action against the Bicchu gang, Qasam Ala gang, and the Sikligar gang. "The gang, with Sindhi as a key figure, used the proceeds from bootlegging to fund other criminal activities," Tandel added. Properties of three siblings seized under GujCTOC
Rajkot: The Anjar police have seized properties belonging to three siblings, Riya Goswami, Aarti Goswami, and Tejas Goswami — under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act for their alleged involvement in extortion and financial crimes .Police inspector Ajaysinh Gohil said the trio was booked in 2024 under charges of extortion and offences under the Gujarat Money Lenders Act at the Anjar police station. Bootleggers held under GujCTOC sent to police custody for 7 days
Vadodara: The two bootleggers booked under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act by the state monitoring cell were remanded in police custody for seven days by a court in the city on Monday. The two are Chhabinathsinh Rajput, a resident of Ahmedabad, and Ravi Maachi, a resident of Vadodara. Both have dozens of cases registered against them. Rajput has 12 prohibition cases registered against him and was detained under the Prevention of Anti-Social Act (PASA) twice. Maachi was booked in eight prohibition cases and was detained under PASA once. Police said both are linked to organized gangs that smuggle liquor into the state. "Police sought their custody to trace the assets they acquired using the ill-gotten gains and to find the godowns where they stored liquor. The investigation will also focus on tracing the other accused involved in the smuggling," said Raghuveer Pandya, the public prosecutor, adding that this is the third such case in the state against notorious bootleggers.
