ANI 12 Jun 2025, 16:08 GMT+10 Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 12 (ANI): An Air India plane crashed at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ahmedabad airport on Thursday during takeoff, as per the Gujarat State Police Control Room. According to the Police Control room, the Air India Flight AI 171 was bound for London. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen at the accident spot, and fire tenders have reached the spot. More details are awaited on the matter. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Gujarat's Chief Minister, Home Minister and the Police Commissioner regarding the plane crash incident. The post shared by user @ExternalWeb9441 quoted, "I was randomly scrolling through Instagram and found an old post from Ahmedabad Mirror, dated 13th December 2024, saying the same flight was cancelled back then due to a technical fault." "Now I don't know if it's the same aircraft or not, but it's the same route, same number of passengers, and the same airline. And if it is the same aircraft, then it seriously raises questions — was this a fault that was never properly fixed? How did it get cleared to fly?" Reacting to the lengthy post, one said, "It's a 787. There very well could be more. Plus civilian casualties. Horrible tragedy." The aircraft did not respond to further calls from air traffic control.'Immediately after departure from Runway 23, the Aircraft fell on the ground outside the airport perimeter. Heavy black smoke was seen coming from the accident site,' said a source in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation ( DGCA ).The aircraft was being flown by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal , a Line Training Captain with 8,200 hours of flying experience. First Officer Clive Kundar, who was assisting the captain, had 1,100 hours of flight experience.
