Kuwait Tennis Federation honors Gulf Championship winners
KUWAIT CITY, May 21: The Kuwait Tennis Federation held a ceremony to honor the national tennis team players who excelled in the recent Gulf Tennis Championship for the Under-12, Under-16, and General Categories. The tournament, hosted by Kuwait last month, featured participation from all GCC countries. The ceremony was attended by Federation Chairman Abdulredha Al-Gharib, Vice Chairman Ali Masoud Hayat, and Secretary General Faleh Al-Otaibi. In his address, Al-Gharib expressed gratitude to Kuwait's sports clubs, the Public Authority for Sports, and the Kuwait Olympic Committee for their vital support during the 2024–2025 sports season. He emphasized that their backing was instrumental in achieving success, culminating in Kuwait's first-place finish in the General category and second-place results in both the Under-12 and Under-16 categories at the Gulf Championship. Al-Gharib praised the players for their dedication and consistent training efforts, applauding their impressive performances throughout the season. He also acknowledged the crucial role played by the players' parents, thanking them for their support and encouragement. He affirmed the Federation's commitment to transparency and engagement, stating: 'Our door is always open for feedback and suggestions. We believe in listening and exchanging views with everyone to continue developing the sport.' Ibrahim lauds Al-Qadsiya's resilience despite defeat in the Gulf Champions League final
KUWAIT CITY, April 16: Former Al-Qadsiya and national team coach Mohammed Ibrahim, known as 'The General,' has commended Zeljko Petrovic for his successful tenure with the team, emphasizing the positive impact the Montenegrin coach has had on the squad this season. Ibrahim highlighted the Al-Qadsiya board of directors' strong support for the team, along with the technical and administrative staff's efforts in maintaining high player focus, especially with the added strain of frequent travels for the Gulf Champions League alongside local tournament commitments. Reflecting on the team's challenges before the Gulf Champions League final, Ibrahim noted the difficult circumstances Al-Qadsiya faced. The team was without Hussein Dhahiri due to suspension, Moaz Al-Dhafiri was injured the day before the match, and the loss of Khaled Ibrahim, who was forced off injured in the first half, was another setback. Despite these challenges, Ibrahim praised the technical staff's management of the match and their decision to include young talents like Khaled Sabah, Faisal Al-Shatti, Jassim Al-Matar, and Abdullah Mutawa. Ibrahim congratulated the Qadisiya players, the board of directors, and the administrative and technical staff, led by Sheikh Fahad Talal, for their outstanding performance in the Gulf Championship despite the obstacles they faced. Following their return from Iraq, Al-Qadsiya resumed training today in preparation for their upcoming match against Al-Tadamon on Sunday in the second round of the tournament's group stage. In the final, Al-Qadsiya suffered a 2-1 loss to Iraqi club Duhok in the second leg of the Gulf Champions League the day before yesterday. In post-match comments, Petrovic criticized the referee's decisions, stating, 'It's difficult to win under these conditions. The referee didn't award many free kicks to my team, but he was quick to give them to the home side.' The emotional coach was seen tearing up after Omani referee Qassim Al-Hatmi blew the final whistle. Meanwhile, Mohammed Soula, Al-Qadsiya's Libyan professional, pointed to a lack of concentration in the final moments of the match as the key reason for the team's defeat.

Top-of-the-table showdown as Kuwait Club faces Burgan
KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Kuwait Club secured a dominant 35-15 victory over Al-Sahel in the postponed fifth-round match of the handball l League at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex Hall. Kazma triumphed over Khaitan in the same round with a score of 30-24. Today's fixtures feature two postponed matches, which will continue until next Saturday. Burgan faces Kuwait Club at 9:00 pm, followed by Al-Arabi clashing with Kazma at 10:30 pm. Burgan currently leads the league standings with 17 points, followed closely by Kuwait Club with 16 points. Al-Salmiya and Al-Arabi each have 14 points, while Kazma has 13. Al-Qurain, Al-Sulaibikhat, and Al-Qadsiya each have 12 points. Al-Nasr follows with 10 points, followed by Khaitan and Al-Fahaheel with 8 points. Yarmouk holds 2 points, Al-Tadamon has 1 point, and Al-Sahel remains at the bottom with no points. MUSCAT, Feb 18: The 41st Gulf Handball Championship for Cup Champions Clubs continues at the Sultan Qaboos Complex Hall in Muscat, Oman, with two crucial fifth-round matches in Group 2 set to take place today. At 3:00 PM, Dibba Al-Hisn (UAE) will take on Al-Arabi (Qatar), while at 5:00 pm; Kuwait Club will face off against Oman, the tournament hosts, in a pivotal encounter. The championship follows a single-round league system, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals ("Golden Square"), scheduled for next Saturday. Kuwait Club lost its opening match to Al-Arabi (33-34) but bounced back with a 34-22 victory over Dibba Al-Hisn. Meanwhile, Oman defeated Dibba Al-Hisn (29-26) in the first round but fell to Al-Arabi (20-30) in its most recent match. Kuwait Club overcomes Al-Duhail in pre-Gulf Championship warm-up
DOHA, Feb 10: Kuwait Club defeated Al-Duhail of Qatar 36-27 in a friendly match as part of the ongoing training camp in Doha. This match served as preparation for the 41st Gulf Clubs Handball Championship, which will take place in Oman from the 15th to the 24th of this month. It will face Qatar in its second friendly tomorrow. Afterward, the team will head directly to Muscat on Thursday for the upcoming competition. On the sidelines of the Al-Duhail match, Kuwait Club's Handball Director, Sameh Al-Hajri, honored the administrator of Al-Duhail, Mansour Al-Sharshani. Kuwait Club has also strengthened its squad with the signing of Egyptian handball star Shadi Khalil from Zamalek. Khalil joins the team as the third professional player alongside Qatari players Frankis Marzo and the Orange Angel Hernandez. The team is placed in Group 2 for the Gulf Championship, alongside Al-Arabi of Qatar, Oman of Oman, and Dibba Al-Hisn of the UAE. Sameh Al-Hajri, Kuwait Club's Handball Director, praised the progress of the Doha camp and highlighted the players' commitment to the instructions of the coaching and administrative staff. He also noted the team's readiness for the Gulf Championship, although winger Saleh Al-Moussawi, who was injured during the World Cup in Croatia, remains out. Al-Hajri reassured that the medical team is working on his rehabilitation to prepare him for the Gulf Championship. Al-Hajri extended his gratitude to the Kuwait Club Board of Directors, led by President Khaled Al-Ghanim, for their unwavering support and efforts in overcoming challenges to ensure the team is fully prepared to represent Kuwaiti handball and compete for the title in the Gulf tournament.
