Murder suspect extradited back to Alabama following Christmas Day shooting
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A murder suspect has been extradited back to Alabama following a shooting that happened on Christmas Day.
The police department said that Marion Joseph Mercer, 35, was found in Greenville, Mississippi, by the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was arrested without incident and charged with the Dec. 25 murder of 37-year-old Leah Jones.
Officers responded to the 3200 block of Uvalde Lane NW around 2:00 p.m. on Christmas Day for a possible shooting in progress, that left Jones dead.
Mercer was booked into the Madison County Jail on Monday around 9:50 p.m.
He is being held without bond.
