BAB and Gulf University Sign Strategic MoU to Align Academic Programmes with Financial Sector Needs
In a move aimed at enhancing the integration between academia and the financial industry, the Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gulf University. The agreement sets the foundation for long-term collaboration in academic curriculum development, professional training, and applied research in the banking and financial sector. This partnership is tailored to foster academic excellence and prepare graduates to meet the evolving demands of the banking industry. Under the terms of the MoU, the two institutions will work together to host mentoring programmes, research projects, and academic events. These initiatives will bring students into direct contact with banking professionals, while also contributing to the continuous evolution of academic content in line with industry needs. The collaboration includes joint efforts to organise and promote conferences, seminars, and specialised forums, ensuring that both parties contribute to a shared vision of sectoral advancement. Furthermore, Gulf University's curricula will be reviewed and updated in consultation with BAB to reflect contemporary trends and address real-world challenges in the financial and banking landscape. Commenting on the MoU, Dr. Waheed Al Qassim, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Association of Banks, stated that the agreement aligns with Bahrain's national sustainable development goals and the Central Bank of Bahrain's strategy to develop the financial services sector. Furthermore, Dr. Al Qassim noted that the banking sector leads in the employment of Bahraini nationals and highlighted BAB's ongoing initiatives to bridge the gap between higher education and the labour market by promoting best practices and fostering excellence among emerging professionals. Dr. Al Qassim underscored the importance of aligning academic programmes with the dynamic requirements of the banking industry, enhancing research capabilities, and offering Gulf University students experiential exposure to real banking environments. 'We firmly believe that sustainable development in the financial sector begins with the cultivation of a skilled and knowledgeable national workforce that can adapt to global advancements and contribute meaningfully to the sector's growth,' Dr. Al Qassim added. Information Ministry Unveils Commentary Star Competition to Nurture Bahraini Sports Commentators
Manama: The Ministry of Information, in collaboration with Tumooh Sport Management and Gulf University, has inaugurated Commentary Star, Bahrain's first national competition dedicated to identifying and nurturing Bahraini talent in sports commentary. This initiative is part of the Creators Lab and the Media Talents Award, and is being organised by Bahrain Sports Channel. According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, highlighted the ministry's dedication to empowering Bahraini youth in sports media. This effort is backed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Registration for the competition is open from May 5 to 20, with ten episodes scheduled for recording and broadcast beginning in September. Participants will be judged by a specialised jury. The winner of the competition will secure a commentary position with Bahrain Sports Channel, receive a full scholarship from Gulf University, and be awarded a financial prize. The top two participants will also be granted monetary prizes and will undergo intensive training. The competition is designed to foster national talent and contribute to the advancement of sports media in Bahrain.

Exhibition held on public security and safety awareness
In a concerted effort to strengthen community partnership and promote sustainable security, the Community Service and Continuing Education Center at Gulf University organised a security and safety awareness exhibition under the theme 'Together Towards Comprehensive Awareness and Sustainable Security.' The event, held in collaboration with various departments of the Ministry of Interior, aimed to enhance public awareness of safety issues in alignment with Bahrain Vision 2030, which prioritises sustainable development and community security. The exhibition featured participation from security specialists who conducted interactive workshops and awareness sessions on crime prevention, traffic safety, maritime security, and emergency response. Experts from the General Department of Criminal Investigations and Evidence delivered lectures on crime scene investigations, drug prevention strategies, and human trafficking countermeasures. Road safety The General Department of Traffic provided insights into road safety and showcased advanced traffic monitoring systems used to detect violations. The Coast Guard Command highlighted its efforts in securing Bahrain's maritime borders, while the General Directorate of Civil Defense conducted a session on firefighting techniques and emergency response protocols. Additionally, a specialised lecture on financial investigations and anti-money laundering measures addressed the risks associated with financial crimes and the mechanisms for combating them.
