6-yr-old girl mauled to death by stray dogs in Bijnor
Bijnor: A six-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Faizi Colony, Bijnor, around 7am on Friday. Yasmin was walking a short distance behind her mother, Gulshan Jahan, who was headed to a nearby shop to buy milk.
About 100 m from their home, a pack of 10 to 12 stray dogs surrounded and attacked the girl.
She suffered severe bite injuries to her neck, face and chest. Her mother raised an alarm on hearing her cries, following which locals rushed to the spot and managed to drive the dogs away.
Yasmin was taken to the CHC, where doctors declared her brought dead. The family later buried the body without a postmortem examination. They have demanded immediate action from the local municipal authorities.
Meanwhile, Dhampur SDM Ritu Chaudhary said, "I have directed the municipality authorities to launch a campaign to catch stray dogs. Legal proceedings are underway." This is the second fatal stray dog attack in the region recently. On May 10, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, Madhav, was similarly mauled to death in Yaqubpur village of Amroha district.
