Delhi: Two interstate thieves held for robbing logistics firm of Rs 2 lakh
Two interstate robbers were arrested on Sunday for their involvement in a gunpoint cash robbery at a Delhivery logistics branch in Dwarka Sector 19.
Police said the accused, Harmeet (31) and Yogesh (30), both residents of Rohtak, were nabbed from Jharoda Kalan in Delhi. Rs 54,500 in stolen cash, along with mobile phones and clothing worn during the crime, were recovered from them, added police.
On April 29, three armed men robbed the delivery office of approximately Rs 2 lakh and the DVR, fleeing on a motorcycle they had stolen the previous night from Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
Based on extensive analysis of CCTV footage — about 500 cameras — and technical surveillance, police traced the culprits' movements from Dwarka Sector 19 to Jharoda Kalan.
Investigation revealed that Harmeet, a former employee of the delivery company, orchestrated the robbery with Yogesh and a third accused, Gurdas, to help finance the wedding of Gurdas's sister, said police.
Gurdas, recently released from jail in a murder case, is on the run.
Police said the accused allegedly admitted to their involvement during questioning and said they abandoned the robbed bike after the incident. They were previously arrested in robbery cases in Rewari, Luharu, and Bhiwani in 2015-16.
