Coroner ID's man shot, killed in south Bakersfield in January

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner's Office identified a man who was shot and killed in south Bakersfield on New Year's Day. Jatinder Singh, 39, was shot in the 2100 block of East Casa Loma Drive Jan. 1 at around 5:17 p.m., according to officials. Singh was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of his death was multiple gunshot wounds. Police identified the suspect in the shooting as Gurinder Singh. In January, police said Gurinder Singh was wanted on suspicion of murder and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Singh's whereabouts is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111. Anyone who sees him should not approach him, police said, but instead call 911. PRIME MINISTER Rajiv Gandhi has said 'appropriate action' would have to be taken to counter Pakistan's acquisition of nuclear capabilities. 'This will completely change the present military balance in the subcontinent. We are looking into various aspects of this development and what action we should take,' he said in his opening remarks at the two-day AICC (I) session in Delhi. Terrorists nabbed THE SECURITY FORCES nabbed a terrorist after he shot dead two Punjab Police head constables and injured two others, including a CRPF jawan, in a labour colony. The police recovered a pistol and a 303 rifle from his possession. The terrorist has been identified as Gurinder Singh alias Satinder Singh. The dead head constables have been identified as Surinder Singh and Narinder Singh. Mystery fire RECORDS PERTAINING TO various departmental inquiries against government employees were destroyed in the fire that broke out in the state secretariat at Gandhinagar, according to fire brigade sources. The fire on the fifth floor of the secretariat building was not due to short circuit, as claimed by the Government, but was part of a deliberate plan, the sources said. Four separate rooms of the seventh block on the fifth floor of the building, not adjoining one another, caught fire simultaneously. Akali turmoil RAJINDER SMGH DHALIWAL, acting SGPC president till recently, criticised the announcement by Baba Joginder Singh, father of Jamail Singh Bhindranwale, dissolving the two Akali factions. Dhaliwal told reporters in Cambowal village that the announcement was the outcome of a 'big conspiracy hatched by anti-Panthic forces to weaken Panthic unity.'
