Michigan woman wins $500K scratch-off jackpot after store clerk's suggestion
An Upper Peninsula woman won a $500,000 lottery jackpot thanks to a suggestion from a store clerk. Amanda Hughes, 42, of Gwinn, bought her winning Wild Time 50X instant ticket at Kwik Trip, located at 301 M-553 in Marquette. "I don't play scratch-off tickets a lot, but I do buy one every once in a while," said Hughes in a news release. "When I was at the store, I asked for the $20 Wild Time game, but they had sold out of it, so the clerk suggested 50X Wild Time. "When I scratched the ticket off and saw the prize of $500,000, I wasn't sure if it was real at first. I thought I must not have read the instructions correctly, so I reread them and then went back into the store to scan the ticket and have the clerk look at it. It was surreal when I realized I really had just won $500,000!" With her winnings, Hughes plans to buy a house and then save the rest for her children. "I still can't believe this is real! This money is going to be life-changing for my family," said Hughes. Since the game launched in February 2024, players have won more than $67 million playing 50X Wild Time, according to the Michigan Lottery. Each $10 ticket gives players the chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $500,000. More than $24 million in prizes remain up for grabs, including 52 $10,000 prizes.

The photos are always from anonymous accounts. "I delete the photos and messages, and I report the accounts. It's just plain bad harassment." Having suffered with a cruciate ligament injury, Gwinn was offered a lucrative deal to pose for Playboy in 2023. The German star called the offer "very tempting" - but instead decided: "I prefer to present myself as a footballer on the field." Gwinn has since received further offers from the magazine, but has stuck to her stance. Neighbor pins down chainsaw-wielding man in clown mask, footage shows
COHOES, NY (WTEN) – A New York man helped pin down another man in a clown mask who was carrying an electric chainsaw down a street in the city of Cohoes on Thursday. 'I was walking my mom out to the car,' said local resident Natalie Gwinn. 'She was going to pick up my daughter from school, and I saw a dude in a blue sports jersey in a clown mask walking down the street. It was a little weird, but I kind of rolled my eyes and ignored it.' A New York man helped pin down another man in a clown mask who was carrying an electric chainsaw down a street in the city of Cohoes on Thursday. (WTEN) In a security video shared to Nexstar's WTEN, the man seen is coming up Newark Street and then turning right on Lancaster Street. Police say a neighbor saw him looking into cars and that's when things quickly changed. 'I heard a man screaming 'Call the cops!' repeatedly,' stated Gwinn. A few moments later, the video captures a neighbor of Gwinn's holding the suspect down until police could show up. 'It felt like a few seconds later there were cops coming down Lancaster,' Gwinn explained. Goodbye, Skype: Once-popular video calling service shuts down for good Police said they initially responded to reports of a 'fight between two males' at around 2:40 p.m., Cohoes Chief of Police Todd Waldin said. Once at the scene, police were seen surrounding the men, ultimately taking one into custody. Waldin said Thursday's incident was something he had never seen before. 'Officers arrived and when they separated the two they were able to determine that there was an individual who was wearing a clown mask and had possession of an electric chainsaw.' Police identified the man in the clown mask as Craig W. Wolcott of Albany. He was arrested and taken to the Albany County Jail where he was booked on three felonies: 'Two different counts for possession of a weapon — one being the chainsaw, another one being a metal knuckle knife that he had on his person. And then the third one being the fact that he menaced someone with that chainsaw, which is a dangerous instrument or deadly weapon,' explained the chief. The unusual arrest rattled the nerves of some neighbors. 'It's usually pretty quiet around here. It's usually just kids in the streets playing,' said Gwinn.
