Kia Carens Clavis unveiled, new tech-loaded avatar to enhance premium character
Kia India has unveiled the Kia Clavis, a premium facelifted version of the Carens MPV, designed to enhance the brand's presence in the competitive MPV segment. Positioned as a more upmarket offering alongside the existing Carens, the Clavis introduces bold design, advanced technology, and enhanced safety. Bookings open on May 9, 2025, for Rs 25,000 via Kia's official website or dealerships, with deliveries expected soon.
Gwuanguu Lee, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, stated, 'The name Clavis, derived from the Latin 'Clavis Auera' meaning 'Golden Key,' embodies Kia's 'Opposites United Philosophy,' where clean lines meet confident character, and innovation harmonised with warmth. Inspired by the global EV design movement, Clavis unlocks a new level of premium appeal.' The Clavis sports a rugged, SUV-inspired look with Kia's signature digital tiger face, featuring tri-beam LED headlights, arrow-shaped LED DRLs, and a slimmer grille. The rear showcases starmap LED connected taillights with a full-width light bar, paired with a refreshed bumper. The Clavis elevates the MPV experience with a revamped dashboard and a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display panel with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, and touch controls for AC enhance the cabin's premium feel. The Clavis offers six- and seven-seater configurations, with a walk-in lever for sliding the first-row passenger seat and second-row captain seats featuring sliding, reclining, and one-touch electric tumble functions. The Clavis retains the Carens' powertrains with a new manual transmission option for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. Available engines include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115bhp, 144Nm of torque), a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160bhp, 253Nm of torque), and a 1.5-litre diesel (116bhp, 250Nm of torque). Transmission options comprise a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DCT.

The Clavis introduces Level-2 ADAS with 20 autonomous features, including forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, blind spot collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist. Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control (ESC).
