Leominster travellers' camp ordered to leave by council
Legal action is being taken by a council over a large unauthorised travellers' camp in group has been told to leave local authority-owned land close to the A44/A49 roundabout, near Leominster, by Herefordshire direction was taken under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 which allows councils to order people in vehicles on certain types of land to leave it, a spokesperson warned that, if the travellers did not obey the order, there would be court action in the future.
The council's Gypsy and Traveller Team and Environmental Health Officers have examined the site in terms of it being used for living on in the long-term, the spokesperson they rejected this idea because of alleged disruptive activities and concerns over the suitability of the site for long-term spokesperson added that the land would have to be cleared at the council's own expense.
