National Youth Day Celebration To Showcase Elements Of ASEAN

Vikneswaran KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- The National Youth Day (HBN) celebration on June 13-15 will be unique as it will showcase elements of ASEAN, in line with Malaysia's Chairmanship of ASEAN 2025. The HBN Secretariat said the programme for the celebration at Dataran Merdeka includes the ASEAN Pavillion and ASEAN Concert to create the spirit of the ASEAN community and strengthen the culture of ASEAN countries among the youth. "The role of youth is seen as vital to strengthening ASEAN's regional network, particularly future collaborations in the fields of economy, leadership, education, technological innovation and social. In fact, youth can also act as junior ambassadors who can elevate the country's image globally,' it said in a statement. Themed "Yakin Boleh' (Believe You Can), the highlight of the 61st HBN celebration will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will officiate the event and present the 2025 National Premier Youth Award (APBN) on June 14. "The theme illustrates the confidence, capability and competitiveness of the youth in facing challenges, including that of the current digital era. This theme also aligns with the MADANI government's efforts to empower youths through various strategic initiatives as well as the values of confidence within the MADANI framework,' it added. With the targeted presence of 4 million visitors, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), through the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN), has activated the HBN celebration at the grassroots level by implementing the Semarak HBN initiative in 113 districts nationwide since May 15. At the national level, the Semarak HBN initiative has been further enlivened by the inclusion of the National Youth Convention; eSports games and activities; career and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) carnivals; as well as programmes on fitness, leadership, arts, music and culture and awareness of mental health and cyberbullying. Other programmes include the Suara Belia (Voice of the Youth) podcast; the recitation of the Malaysian Youth Pledge at various levels; the 2025 HBN Special Islamic Affairs Premier Forum; and the implementation of Special Friday sermons nationwide through the collaboration of the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM) and State Islamic Religious departments.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the programme is jointly organised by the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. 'The celebration will be officiated by the Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah,' the report read. Serian Division Resident, Caroline Cleophas Joseph, said that comprehensive preparations are underway following a recent coordination meeting of the HBN Celebration Committee. Now in its 61st edition, this year's HBN celebration carries the theme 'Yakin Boleh' (Sure Can), reflecting the government's aspiration to nurture a generation of youth who are competitive, confident, and future-ready. Thirteen themed activity zones ― referred to as 'Ports' ― will serve as major attractions. These include Port Makan-Makan, Port Gaya & Trend, Port Healing, Port Gaming (E-Sports), Port Jana Duit, and Port FYP, each tailored to the varied interests and needs of today's youth. Additionally, dedicated pavilions will be set up for Rakan Muda, the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas), and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Members of the public, especially youths, are encouraged to attend and take part in the exciting line-up of activities throughout the two-day event. Selangor targets 70,000 visitors for Youth Day celebration

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government is optimistic of attracting 70,000 visitors, particularly youths, to the state-level National Youth Day (HBN) 2025 celebration scheduled for May. State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the two-day celebration from May 17, adopting a festival concept at KSL Esplanade Mall in Klang, promised a unique experience. He said to enliven the HBN festivities, district-level programmes would be held simultaneously across nine districts in Selangor on May 15. 'Carrying the theme 'Yakin Boleh' (Believe We Can), the HBN celebration begins at the district level before culminating in a festival-style event on May 17 and 18 at KSL Esplanade Mall, Klang. 'This year's highlights include 13 main segments for visitors, such as food and beverage, fashion, sports, and career carnivals,' he told a press conference here today. Mohd Najwan said Klang was chosen as this year's host for the Selangor-level HBN celebration. 'The celebration will be officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who will also present the Selangor-level National Premier Youth Award (APBN),' he added.
