Korean convenience store ‘CU' makes Honolulu debut

The Korean convenience store 'CU' is making its highly anticipated debut in the United States, with its first locations being right here in Hawai'i. Shark warning signs posted at Makaha Beach
A shark warning alert has been issued this morning for Makaha Beach in West Oahu. Ocean Safety lifeguards confirmed the sighting of one tiger shark about 100 yards from shore in Makaha, according to an HNL Alert issued at 10 :18 a.m. Warning signs have been posted. Question : My family wants me to bring fresh lei for my nephew's mainland wedding. Will HNL allow this through ? I am seeing conflicting information even on florists' websites. Answer : It depends on the type of lei. The U.S. Department of Agriculture prohibits some common lei components from entering the continental United States to prevent the spread of plant disease. Before buying the lei, 'ask the seller to confirm that it does not include fresh botanical fruits, such as berries and pandanus fruit, or any of the following prohibited items : any citrus or citrus-related flowers, leaves, or other plant parts, as well as jade vine or Mauna Loa. Lei with these items cannot enter the U.S. mainland.
