Working Paper On Sultanah Aminah 2 Hospital Construction Almost Ready For Cabinet

JOHOR BAHRU, June 16 (Bernama) -- The working paper for the construction of Sultanah Aminah 2 Hospital (HSA-2) is now in its final phase of preparation before being presented to the Cabinet for further discussion and approval. Johor Health and Unity Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the progress was achieved after all issues related to land ownership and preliminary works were successfully resolved, with the working paper expected to be completed this month. He said part of the Ministry of Defence land in Skudai has been approved for the project. 'The federal government has previously approved the allocation for preliminary works through a budget presentation by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. 'The preliminary works have been completed and we are now at the stage of finalising the working paper under the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS) to be brought to the Cabinet meeting,' he told a press conference here today. Ling said several rounds of technical workshops had also been conducted to coordinate planning and prevent overlaps between the HSA-2 project and the development of an ambulatory care centre (ACC) also planned at the existing Sultanah Aminah Hospital site. In another development, he said that Pasir Gudang Hospital (HPG) is expected to begin operation in phases starting this July, following the recent handover of the facility from the Public Works Department (JKR) to MOH. He said several key positions, including hospital director and deputy director, had been filled, while staff placement arrangements were underway, with over 1,800 positions approved. Ling added that 14 specialist clinics are planned at HPG, but not all will be opened simultaneously, as their operation depends on the availability of manpower, specialists and equipment.

Hospital Pasir Gudang to open in phases from July

JOHOR BARU: Johor's Hospital Pasir Gudang (HPG) will open to the public in phases starting in July, says Ling Tian Soon. The state health and environment committee chairman said that its emergency and trauma department and general surgery department would begin operations next month. "The 304-bed hospital, which will feature 14 specialist clinics, is expected to be fully operational by next year. "We want to ensure all clinics are ready, in terms of equipment and staff, before welcoming patients in stages," he said on Monday (June 16) after attending an aid handover programme at Southern University College. Ling said positions such as hospital director and deputy director have been appointed, and the process is ongoing to fill more than 1,800 vacancies approved by the Health Ministry. He added that the state has requested the ministry to station doctors and nurses at HPG or transfer them from other healthcare facilities, which will take time. Construction of the RM380mil HPG began in 2020 but faced significant setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic and other restrictions. The physical structure of the facility was completed earlier this year.

Fake TNVS agent nabbed in Taguig

A fake agent of transportation network vehicle services (TNVS) was arrested in an entrapment operation in Taguig City, the Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said on Tuesday. HPG spokesperson Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang said the suspect was arrested in Barangay Cembo on Monday. The suspect was asking victims for up to P25,000 for a temporary permit to operate a TNVS vehicle, according to Malang. A total of 13 similar complaints were lodged at the HPG. The HPG is looking at large-scale estafa as the possible complaint that will be filed against the suspect. 'We are still targeting na masampahan siya ng large-scale estafa kasi kung talagang estafa case lang, isang complainant lang,' Malang told reporters in an interview. (We are still targeting to charge him with large-scale estafa because if it is only an estafa case, there is only one complainant.) 'Muli, may 12 na tayong additional complainant para magsampa ng kaso para hindi na makapag-bail ito pong tao na ito kasi kung siya ay makakapagpiyansa muli, magkakaroon na naman ng pagkakataon na manloko,' he added. (Again, we have 12 additional complainants to file a case so that this person will not be able to bail because if he is able to bail again, there will be another opportunity for him to commit the crime.) Authorities are investigating if the suspect has accomplices and if they belong to a bigger group. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

MedX Health and Health Partners Sign Commercial Agreement Following Successful UK Pilot

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, May 15, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MedX Health Corp. ("MedX" or the "Company") (TSXV: MDX), the global leader in teledermatology solutions, is pleased to announce the signing of a commercial contract with Health Partners Group Ltd ("HPG" or "Health Partners Group"), the United Kingdom's largest occupational health services provider. This agreement follows the successful completion of a pilot project across two of HPG's clients, utilizing MedX's DermSecure® skin cancer screening platform. Following the pilot's success (11% of 300 employees from two of HPG's clients had moles requiring in-clinic dermatological follow-up), MedX's DermSecure® skin cancer screening platform will be rolled out to Health Partners' clients across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, representing a major milestone in MedX's global commercialization strategy. "We are thrilled to deepen our relationship with Health Partners through this commercial agreement," said Mike Druhan, President of Dermatological Services at MedX. "This rollout means potentially thousands of at-risk individuals, particularly outdoor and industrial workers, will gain access to dermatologist-level skin assessments, directly at their workplaces. Health Partners Group is offering MedX services as a fast-track to a Dermatologist, which is a powerful step forward in the early detection and prevention of skin cancer in the workplace." With three million client employees served and 650+ corporate, government, and insurance clients, Health Partners Group is now poised to offer scalable, remote skin cancer screening as a standard part of their client employee health services. "The pilot validated the accuracy, speed, and accessibility of MedX's technology," said Andrew Noble, CEO of Health Partners Group. "Preventive care is essential to workplace health. Health Partners Group is extending its preventative care and chronic care services to include Skin Cancer screening. This is a complementary partnership that enables Health Partners to integrate world-class dermatological assessments into our existing services, speeding up diagnosis to under 3 days from the current NHS wait time of between 5-9 months and helping safeguard the health of the UK's workforce." Skin cancer is among the most common forms of cancer in the UK, with over 220,000 cases diagnosed annually. According to the UK Cancer Alliance, outdoor workers face a 60% higher risk of developing skin cancer due to prolonged sun exposure. Early detection remains critical, with survival rates dropping sharply between early and late-stage diagnoses. The MedX platform allows rapid, non-invasive imaging of skin lesions, which are securely transmitted to dermatologists for assessment within a period of 72 hours or less. The rollout represents a pivotal advancement in accessible, preventative care, especially at a time when healthcare systems face growing demand and staffing pressures.
