Simple, impactful ways to celebrate National Small Business Week
HONOLULU (KHON2) — National Small Business Week is coming up, an annual celebration of the businesses that shape our local economies and communities.
As we recognize small businesses, the Better Business Bureau emphasized how some are facing a new and growing challenge — the impact of increased tariffs.

BBB's Cameron Nakashima said small businesses have more at stake this year.
According to the National Retail Federation, recent tariffs are adding unexpected costs to supplies and goods, making it harder for small businesses, especially compared to larger companies, to stay competitive and possibly stay in business.
Many small businesses design products in the U.S. and have them manufactured or source materials from abroad.
These businesses, especially, are being hit hard by the recent tariffs.

This includes local toy makers and tech suppliers to the candy shop down the street, and all kinds of other businesses.
It's never easy to be a small business owner, and recent economic conditions have made it even more challenging for many. So supporting a small business this upcoming Small Business Week can really make a difference.
So, how can you show some love?

Consumers can make a real difference by consciously choosing to shop small and local whenever possible, especially during times of economic pressure. Before making a purchase, you're encouraged to visit to find and support trustworthy small businesses committed to transparency and ethical practices.
Supporting small businesses also means being patient and understanding about small price increases or service delays as businesses navigate rising costs.
An endorsement also can go a long way. Something I'm doing this week and I'm encouraging my friends to do is to pick three to five local small businesses that have impacted your life and helped to shape your community. Share about them on social media and to your friends in person.
