Aizawl: In an operation spanning six days, Mizoram Police have confiscated drugs and substances worth over Rs 6.35 crore, including and methamphetamine, leading to the arrest of 10 individuals, as reported by a senior police official on Friday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to H Ramthlengliana, IGP and chief public relations officer of state police, their Special Narcotics Police Station team seized 597 bottles of codeine weighing 80.495kg from C Zosangluri (34) at Selesih near Aizawl on Thursday. The suspect resides in College Veng neighbourhood, Aizawl. Following the suspect's statement, authorities raided a warehouse in Ramthar Veng, north Aizawl, alongside state health department drug inspectors. They discovered 1,292 additional bottles of codeine weighing 179.405kg. The total seizure of 1,889 bottles is valued at Rs 9,44,500 in local markets. Officials registered a case under section 22(c) of the ND&PS Act, 1985, at Special Narcotics Police Station, Aizawl. On Tuesday morning, Lunglei police apprehended Rohluzuala (37) from Theiriat, Lunglei, seizing 193.02 grams of heroin worth Rs 5,79,060 near Dawn village. The case was registered under section 21(b) ND&PS Act at Lunglei Police Station. On Monday night, Khawzawl police at Tuisenphai check gate seized 4.742kg of suspected methamphetamine (40,400 tablets) valued at Rs 61,64,600 from a taxi operated by Vanlaldampuia (26) from Tuipui, Champhai district. On Sunday morning, a joint operation by CID (Special Branch) and Special Narcotics Police Station at Seling, Aizawl district led to the seizure of 39.151kg of methamphetamine worth Rs. The drugs were found in a modified compartment of a 407 truck driven by Ramropuia (25) from Tahan, with Lalkrossmawia (41) from Letpanchaung as passenger. On Saturday, Saitual Police intercepted two vehicles driven by Joseph Vanlalhlana and Lalramthara (20) from Zokhawthar, discovering 1.142kg of heroin worth Rs 50 lakh concealed in a door frame. The investigation led to four additional arrests of Bittu Chhetry (20) from Bualpui Hmar veng, Naruj Jaman Laskar (18) from Lailapur, Lalpekmuani (28) and Rodinliani (33), both from Rangvamual Farm veng, at Tuikhurhlu and Seling checkpoints.
