Harry Potter reboot risks fan backlash over 'unexpected filming location'
Filming for the new Harry Potter reboot, which is being adapted for the small screen, is said to be underway, after the three main actors were announced last week Harry Potter reboot is said to be risking backlash from fans as the show films scenes in an "unexpected location". The HBO TV reboot is due to start filming in the Île de Sein off Brittany, despite the story being set in Britain. Producers have reportedly chosen the French location to set scenes for the hit where Hagrid appears to announce: "You're a wizard, Harry." However, the books detail that the hut is located on an island off Cornwall and not France. But, bosses are said to have chosen the different location to portray the iconic scene. However, it's been reported that some of the crew have found the choice amusing as they could've found a suitable place closer to home. The Sun reported that a TV insider said: "This caused a certain amount of amusement among the British crew who all agreed that they could have easily got windswept in virtually any part of the British Isles. They've been slightly bewildered by the fact they've actually gone to France to make a show which is so British — particularly since it's the first place they've gone to and they're doing key scenes there. "For fans it's likely to be a sign that with American producers running the show, it might not be as mindful of Harry Potter as a national treasure that shouldn't be tampered with." Around 30 people are said to be at Pointe du Raz on the west coast of Brittany and have been travelling by boat to the island each day. It's thought that there is a supposedly haunted 19th century lighthouse on the island which might be used as the hut in the TV series. The iconic Harry Potter franchise films were all made in the studio or on location in Britain. Locations such as London, Bath, Durham and the Scottish Highlands were used as filming locations. Warner Bros has invested millions in expanding its studio at Leavesden, near Watford for the filming on the TV reboot. This comes after it was announced last week which actors would be taking on the main three roles in the show - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin would be taking on the lead role previously played in the movies by Daniel Radcliffe. He will be working alongside fellow rising stars Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Hagrid, which was previously played by late actor Robbie Coltrane, will now be taken over by Nick Frost instead. Albus Dumbledore will be played by actor John Lithgow will be the wizard school's headmaster Albus Dumbledore and Paul Whitehouse will appear as Hogwarts' caretaker Argus Filch.

Harry Potter TV series leaves crew 'bewildered' as filming for 'British national treasure' begins in France
Filming for the Harry Potter TV series kicked off this week, but the crew have already been left 'bewildered' by the producers choice of location. Cast and crew have have set up on the Île de Sein off the coast of Brittany where they are thought to be re-creating the famous moment that Hagrid says, 'You're a wizard Harry!' In the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry is taken away the Hut-on-the-Rock by the Dursleys to in an attempt to prevent the letters from Hogwarts reaching him. However, Rubeus Hagrid, flys to the hut and forces his way inside to find Harry, give him his acceptance letter and reveal the truth about his parents death. In the book, the hut is off the coast of Cornwall, with the films having been shot entirely in the UK, but the TV show's producers sought a breezier location. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. A source told The Sun: 'This caused a certain amount of amusement among the British crew who all agreed that they could have easily got windswept in virtually any part of the British Isles. 'They've been slightly bewildered by the fact they've actually gone to France to make a show which is so British — particularly since it's the first place they've gone to and they're doing key scenes there. 'For fans it's likely to be a sign that with American producers running the show, it might not be as mindful of Harry Potter as a national treasure that shouldn't be tampered with.' The latest leading trio were finally announced this week after months of speculation - with Dominic McLaughlin landing the title role, while Arabella Stanton is set to play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley. JK Rowling gave her approval to the trio cast as the new child stars of the multi-million-pound TV adaptation - after previously giving short shrift to racists complaining about producers' picks. There has been some online backlash against what has been branded ' woke ' reinterpreting of the wizarding franchise based on the seven bestselling books by Rowling, 59, which prompted eight movie versions. But the multi-millionaire author yesterday gave her first public response to the new Harry Potter television casting announcement, with showbusiness insiders suggesting she would have a key role in the new productions. One fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, asking the bestselling author to inform the new recruits the wizarding franchise's creator felt about their casting. And now Rowling has responded by declaring: 'All three are wonderful. I couldn't be happier.' The writer was replying to a tweet which said: '@jk_rowling @streamonmax @harrypotter Please tell Dominic, Arabella and Alistair that they are already loved by the fandom and we can't wait to see the show! 'We wish them all the best and that they have a magic time.' The new adaptation will be spread across seven seasons, equal to the number of books - although there were eight films with the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows split into two parts. The HBO TV show is said to be costing £75million per episode - and the three child actors taking the lead roles have been tipped to land themselves even bigger fortunes than the original stars. Producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod praised the 'wonderful' talent of the three newcomers, when making Tuesday's casting announcement. They said: 'After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. 'We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.' Rowling released the first Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 1997, followed by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets the following year. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released in 1999, followed by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2000. Three years later Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix was published and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2005. The final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was released in 2007. Daniel Radcliffe took on the role of protagonist Harry Potter in the film franchise. Emma Watson played Hermione, while Rupert Grint was Ron Weasley. The first movie was released in 2001 and the final one came out in 2011. They played their roles for a decade.

New Harry Potter TV series risks fan fury after they film classic scenes in bizarre location
SACRE bleu! Filming for the Harry Potter TV series has begun — in France. US media giant HBO has dispatched crew to the rocky Île de Sein off Brittany, seemingly forgetting the Britishness of the boy wizard adventures. 5 5 5 The island is thought to be the setting for scenes in the Hut-on-the-Rock, a dilapidated holiday shack where Hagrid turns up to announce: 'You're a wizard, Harry.' In the books, the hut is on an island off Cornwall — rather than five miles off one of the westernmost points of France. But producers insisted on using it as they thought it a suitably windswept location. A TV insider said: 'This caused a certain amount of amusement among the British crew who all agreed that they could have easily got windswept in virtually any part of the British Isles. 'They've been slightly bewildered by the fact they've actually gone to France to make a show which is so British — particularly since it's the first place they've gone to and they're doing key scenes there. 'For fans it's likely to be a sign that with American producers running the show, it might not be as mindful of Harry Potter as a national treasure that shouldn't be tampered with.' A film crew of about 30 is said to be camped at Pointe du Raz on the west coast of Brittany and every day they travel backwards and forwards by boat to the island. On a rocky outcrop off Île de Sein is the supposedly haunted 19th century Tévennec lighthouse, which may end up being used as the Hut-on-the-Rock in the final edit. The surprising choice of location comes after HBO this week announced that young Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin would be taking on the lead role previously played in the movies by Englishman Daniel Radcliffe. He will star alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, characters depicted in the films by Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) Official Trailer Between 2001 and 2011 they starred in eight movies, all made in the studio or on location in Britain. Bath, Oxford and London were among the cities where scenes were filmed, while more remote locations in Durham and the Scottish Highlands were also used. Warner Bros has invested millions of pounds in rapidly expanding its studio at Leavesden, near Watford, to accommodate shooting of the TV adaptation of all seven on JK Rowling's books. The Sun exclusively revealed how the complex would include a new version of Harry Potter's childhood home on Privet Drive. Hagrid, Hogwarts' groundskeeper played by the late Robbie Coltrane in the movies, will be played by Nick Frost. Meanwhile, John Lithgow will be the wizard school's headmaster Albus Dumbledore and Paul Whitehouse will appear as its caretaker, Argus Filch. The series is expected to drop next year — although it is not confirmed which service will take it. HBO declined to comment on the use of a French location. But Île de Sein does have a magical link — it was, legend has it, home to virgin druid princesses with the power to take on animal forms, just like Animagi in the Potter stories. 5 5

Dispatch, Universal Orlando: Riding coasters new and old
ORLANDO -- Am I a roller coaster-loving person? This is a question I've been grappling with over the past two days while riding coasters in the new Epic Universe and ones in Universal's other parks. I'm being hosted at the resort as part of media previews for Epic, Universal's third theme park in Orlando. And up until this visit, I didn't think I liked high-intensity coasters. It's all rooted in the ill effects of a morning turn on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney's Hollywood Studios. At the tender age of 12, that attraction left me, shall we say, green around the gills. (The Aerosmith theme for this coaster will eventually give way to the Muppets.) I've studiously avoided the most intense coasters since. Until, on a VIP tour for media on Tuesday, there arose the opportunity to skip the line and hop on VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure. I'll skip the velociraptor chase and cut to the conclusion: I loved it. I also loved Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure (also at Universal Islands of Adventure). Celestial and mythological elements play into the design of Celestial Park. Photo Credit: Jamie Biesiada The thrilling Stardust Racers To my great surprise, I also loved Stardust Racers, a dual-launch coaster in Epic Universe's Celestial Park district. I think I might be a coaster person -- although I haven't only been riding coasters. On Tuesday, I experienced three of the five worlds that comprise Epic Universe. Celestial Park was designed to be a calming space for visitors to decompress, filled with gardens and water features, but it also offers one of Epic's biggest thrills. With a minimum height requirement of 48 inches, Stardust Racers is pretty intense. It goes as fast as 62 mph along its 5,000 feet of track. It reaches up to 133 feet. I am a huge fan, especially of the airtime (the sensation of being out of your seat) and the delightful downward corkscrew. The coaster has two tracks, yellow and green. While the two sides normally race, the green side was down when I rode. I heard Stardust Racers is best experienced at night, something I hope to do in the coming days. The sun rises on the Isle of Berk. Photo Credit: Jamie Biesiada Swooping on Hiccup's Wing Gliders How to Train Your Dragon -- Isle of Berk is themed to its eponymous series, wherein the Viking boy Hiccup bucks centuries of tradition and trains the dragon Toothless. He convinces his people that dragons aren't enemies of the Vikings, and they can coexist peacefully and help each other thrive. Multiple animatronic dragons populate Berk. Photo Credit: Jamie Biesiada The world of Berk comes alive at Epic Universe. The attention to detail, and no shortage of animatronic dragons throughout, impresses from the get-go. It is home to three attractions and one show. Hiccup's Wing Gliders is a delightful coaster. It whips riders around the Isle of Berk, offering great views of the scenery and some fun dragon appearances (sheep, too). It's not too intense and only carries a height requirement of 40 inches. For the adventurous kid, this would be a great first coaster. For everyone else, it's a good time without sparking the nerves of inversions or too-steep climbs and drops. Drenched on Fyre Drill A warning to the water-averse: You will probably get soaked on Fyre Drill. This slow-moving boat ride offers a fun game for riders (there is no height minimum). Everyone gets access to their own water cannon they can shoot at targets, other boats and even people waiting on line. I was grateful for the poncho that Universal team members handed out at the entrance. Without it, I would have probably needed a wardrobe change. The ride is fun, especially when other boats get rowdy. Pack rain gear or do this last, right before you leave the park. Flip or don't on Dragon Racer's Rally Dragon Racer's Rally was designed to train Vikings in dragon flight. Its unique mechanics allow riders (minimum height of 48 inches) to take control of "dragon wings" to flip themselves over while in flight. Riders go high, so the height-averse should avoid it, but otherwise it moves in relatively gentle circles. Inversions are totally up to the rider. I avoided flipping myself and enjoyed the views of Berk and beyond. A rider in front of me flipped so much it made my stomach want to do the same. A can't-miss show in Isle of Berk "The Untrainable Dragon" is the Isle of Berk's stage show, and it's not to be missed. Hiccup and Toothless fly above the audience during "The Untrainable Dragon." Photo Credit: Jamie Biesiada Dazzling puppetry, costumes and animatronics accompany this tale of a dragon that seems untrainable -- that is, until Hiccup steps in. The music is catchy, the sets well designed and the puppets and animatronics impeccable. It's a surprise-and-delight moment when Hiccup and Toothless first take flight over the audience. Let's-a go to Super Mario World Super Mario World has brought to life some of my favorite childhood video games. From entering via Princess Peach's castle to punching question mark boxes for coins, this land is a delight for anyone that has ever enjoyed the Mario universe. It's best enjoyed with an interactive Power-Up Band, which lets players track their progress in collecting keys via games and coins throughout the world. They come at a cost of $45. The world is bifurcated into two lands: Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. The entrance to Mine-Cart Madness in Super Mario World. Photo Credit: Jamie Biesiada Mine-Cart Madness, a coaster in Donkey Kong Country, gets major points for creativity. Universal has employed an innovative coaster design that makes it appear riders are jumping across gaps in the track. While the ride is fun from any seat, front-row riders have a better view of gap jumping. There is at least one portion of the attraction where riders are jerked from side to side pretty intensely. I didn't love this effect but it wouldn't stop me from riding it again. Riders must be 40 inches tall or taller. A Power-Up Band costs $45. Photo Credit: Jamie Biesiada Yoshi's Adventure is a slow ride through Super Mario Land designed for small children. The minimum height requirement is 34 inches. Riders board their own Yoshi in search of glowing eggs. While not a must-do, Yoshi's Adventure offers wonderful views of Super Mario World. Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge was like walking into a dream because I grew up playing Mario Kart 64. Riders enter Bowser's Castle -- one of the most detailed queues I've seen -- and enter into a cart race. Yes, it includes the iconic Rainbow Road. The augmented-reality goggles are fairly comfortable to don, but if riders don't pay attention in the pre-show video, they won't understand the mechanics of throwing Koopa shells (use your eyes to aim). The attraction has a minimum height of 40 inches. Let's-a go!

20 Overrated/Underrated Movie Characters
There are a ton of movies out there where characters are heavily lauded and praised by many in conversation, but for some reason I just don't get the appeal. In many instances, there are also characters that don't get nearly as much love as the more overhyped movie characters. This is a list that shows 20 of the most overrated and underrated movie characters in no particular order. Overrated: Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story Though I love Tim Allen's voice acting in all of the Toy Story movies, Buzz Lightyear, while comedic and also a super cool new toy when the going got tough, wasn't reliable. Especially in the first film, since Woody had to spend the entire film getting him to understand that he was just a toy. Plus, the way he got acquainted with Woody put me off, although I will say he redeemed himself in more ways than one in the later films. His character had a lot of unnecessary hype, plus the whole not knowing he was a toy thing got old fast. Underrated: Ron Weasley from Harry Potter If certified ride or die was a movie character, it would be Ronald Weasley. Ron was there to help Harry take on magical escapades that included huge snakes, large talking spiders, and a vengeful wizard trying to kill him and destroy the school, all while trying to maintain a good GPA. His character is under-appreciated, and deserves to be acknowledged more. Overrated: Harry Potter from Harry Potter Now I have no problem with the boy who lived; however, I feel that his character lacked much depth given all the experiences he went through. Throughout the films it becomes easier and easier to veer away from Harry's story and have more interest into the other characters' stories, which explains all the spinoffs. Underrated: Hagrid from Harry Potter Throughout the film series, it seems nobody talks about how loyal Hagrid truly was as Hogwarts groundskeeper. Not only did he teach Harry how to ride a hippogriff, he also ensured his safety after his parents were murdered by he who must not be named. Hagrid is criminally underrated as a movie character; he embodied loyalty, love, and a strong moral code that didn't get the praise he so rightfully deserved. Overrated: Hermione Granger from Harry Potter Continuing on the Harry Potter train, one character that I could not understand the appeal of, even back when the movies were in heavy rotation at the box office, is Hermione Granger. Now, there's nothing wrong with someone being intelligent, and to some degree a little arrogant. Unfortunately, her character was poorly written as a bossy, close-minded, and kind of cruel addition to the friend group. Her character is highly praised time and time again as someone who is simply intelligent and confident, when in reality she comes off as more of a close-minded know-it-all who is a bit annoying. Underrated: Kristoff from Frozen Although I'm not the biggest fan of the Frozen films, one underrated character throughout is Kristoff. While him and his trusty moose Sven were great comedic relief characters, Kristoff was really down for anything when he meets Anna. He goes to great lengths to help Anna find her sister, which I find to be one of the things that goes overlooked for his character. Overrated: Elsa from Frozen I know this one is going to sting, but Elsa is highly overrated. Out of all the Disney Princesses she has the least amount of personality, and while I enjoy "Let It Go" as much as the next person, that's really all she had going for her. A lot of the dialogue is extremely forgettable, plus the movies focus is more on the sister's journey in finding Elsa. A lot of the movie has little to do with Elsa and more about her sister Anna, and I would attribute that to the poor writing of her character. Underrated: Finn from Star Wars While there are a ton of things you can debate about the new Star Wars movies, one thing is for sure: Finn is heavily underrated throughout the films. There was so much to like about Finn's character; he had a lot of great qualities, from being a good friend to being a fearless fighter. Although I feel he definitely should've had the way of the force, after we first meet Finn, it seems that the writing for his character just goes down hill to where he becomes a more underrated character within the franchise. Overrated: Bella Swan from Twilight It should be no surprise that any character from Twilight lands themselves on this list. This movie was criminally overhyped back when it came out, but after re-watching the saga, it's crystal clear that Bella is very overrated. The age-old tale of two boys fighting over a girl, but let's add vampires that sparkle in the sunlight and werewolves that are more akin to large husky. Throughout the entirety of this movie series, Bella had the least amount of personality and substance out of all the characters, and really entertained the idea of two dudes fighting over her up until she got impregnated with a vampire baby — then everything was off the table. Her character had way too much hype around her, and after watching the movies again, I'll never understand why. Underrated: Charlie Swan from Twilight I definitely can't give this man the award for Father of the Year; however, given his dilemma of having a teenage daughter in a love triangle with a mysterious vampire and her childhood friend now turned werewolf, I'd say he did the best any father could have. His character is underrated just for the fact that people don't give him enough credit for him being so trusting of his daughter. Half the time Bella would be gone for days, and Charlie would be at home waiting for her with open arms. Plus they were on a first name basis; if that doesn't scream underrated parent trying to the best they can, I don't know what does. Overrated: Edward Cullen from Twilight There's simply no denying that while Robert Pattinson had the hearts of all the pre-pubescent girls of 2009 in the palm of his hand, his character is undeniably overrated. There are many times throughout the movies where his character doesn't come off as a hot vampire that's dating a human girl, but rather a creepy boyfriend that's a bit of a stalker. Keep in mind this man popped up in Bella's room while she was sleeping just for funsies. His character is highly overrated, and the hype over him was as unfathomable then as it is now. Underrated: Cameron Fry from Ferris Bueller's Day Off Cameron was more than just the guy who went along with all of Ferris's antics. Anyone that lets their best friend drive their dad's beloved Ferrari deserves the utmost respect. Not to mention, Cameron dealt with a lot in that one day all while being actually sick, unlike Ferris. His character is overlooked greatly and deserved more recognition. Overrated: Jacob Black from Twilight Jacob Black's character throughout the Twilight series was the epitome of annoying guy who doesn't take no for an answer and isn't fond of wearing a shirt. Also imprinting on an unborn child is weird no matter how you slice it; his character is highly overrated and really didn't deserve to have a whole team rallied on his behalf. Underrated: Batman from Batman franchise This may be up for debate, but many believe that Batman is guilty by association when it comes to being deemed a superhero. Although, it's valid to say that Batman is just some rich guy that knows how to fight and use fancy gadgets, but there's definitely more to it than that. It's his lack of resources that truly solidify the case that he's an underrated movie character that deserves more praise. Overrated: The Joker from Batman franchise While the Joker definitely goes down as one of the most notable villains in movie history, he's definitely one of the most overrated. As phenomenal as the relationship between the Joker and Batman is throughout the films, his plans always get thwarted by the Bat, and the only thing that keeps him around is Batman's vow of not killing. There are more villains that Batman faces that not only give him more of a run for his money and challenge his intelligence, but due to the history between the two, it makes sense why there's so much unnecessary hype around the Joker. Underrated: The Riddler from Batman franchise The Riddler is one of the villains that Batman deals with who is disrespectfully underrated. He's one of the few villains that doesn't simply wreak havoc on Gotham City; he tries his hardest to challenge the world's greatest detective. Even in the new Batman movie we see what the Riddler's potential truly can be when he's in the spotlight. Overrated: Forrest Gump from Forrest Gump There's no denying that Tom Hanks performance as Forrest Gump was one of the best performances in film. However, his character is severely overrated, as he goes through the entire movie trying to get a girl who blows him off throughout the entirety of the film. As heartwarming as the film is, Forrest Gump as a movie character is highly overrated, and it only gets worse the more times you watch the film. Underrated: Professor Lambeau from Good Will Hunting Professor Lambeau was not only an example of a phenomenal teacher, but he was also the most underrated character in the film. Matt Damon's character was literally the worst, and the fact that Professor Lambeau was so patient because he saw more in Will Hunting than Will Hunting saw in himself made his character extremely underrated. He deserved way more recognition. Overrated: Willy Wonka from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Willy Wonka, while a great chocolatier, was actually overrated and kind of terrible as a tour guide and host. Not only did he not ensure the safety of the attendees, but he also tried to cut Charlie from obtaining his chocolate factory after they drank some fizzy lifting drink. Out of all the things that went wrong throughout the tour, the fact that Charlie survived and didn't expose any of the factory secrets should've more than sufficed. While Willy Wonka's character is cherished by many, he had way too much hype around his character for how terrible he actually was. Underrated: Grandpa Joe from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I don't think there's a better movie grandpa than Grandpa Joe; his character was highly overlooked throughout the film. Not only was he a former Wonka employee, but he was also bedridden yet got out of bed just to take his grandson on a chocolate factory tour. He had such a deep love for his grandson, and it could be seen throughout the film, but it's easy to see his character get overlooked by many due to all the other highly animated characters in the movie. Do you agree with my list? Who would you add? Let me know in the comments section below!
