Iraqi Airways transports over 17,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj

Baghdad ( – Iraqi Airways has successfully transported more than 17,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj season, operating 105 direct flights from various airports across Iraq. The flights, which commenced on May 8 and concluded on May 28, were conducted under the supervision of Iraq's Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi. Flights arrived at Saudi Arabia's King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, a major hub equipped with a dedicated Hajj Terminal designed to handle the influx of pilgrims during the season. The airport is located approximately 1.5 hours by road from Makkah, facilitating onward travel for the pilgrims. The airline operated five to six daily flights during the peak period, coordinating closely with the Ministry of Transport and the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah to ensure safety, and comfort for all pilgrims.

Al-Dossary: Saudi Arabia won't allow violators to disrupt the comfort of pilgrims

Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said that the Kingdom won't tolerate any unauthorized pilgrims disrupting the comfort of other pilgrims, and that the "No Hajj without a permit" campaign will be intensified. He made the remarks while addressing a joint government press conference, which was also attended by Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, and Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel. Al-Dossary said that Saudi Vision 2030 is based on three detailed objectives to serve the guests of God: facilitating the hosting of more pilgrims and access to the Two Holy Mosques; providing high-quality services to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims; and enriching religious and cultural experience of the pilgrims. The minister pointed out that the royal directives have been issued to host 1,000 pilgrims from the families of martyrs in Palestine and 1,300 pilgrims from 100 countries under the "Guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques" program, which is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance. Regarding preparations, Al-Dossary stated that the Ministry of Interior is fulfilling its role in the security and organizational arena through the "No Hajj without a permit" campaign, to preserve the sanctity of the site and ensure the safety of pilgrims in addition to enable them to perform the rituals in an orderly and peaceful environment. He stated that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has prepared approximately 25,000 mosques and prayer halls in Makkah and Madinah, along the roads leading to Hajj, land entry points, the holy sites, and neighborhood mosques. It has also secured the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' gift of 2.5 million copies of the Holy Qur'an, which will be distributed at land, sea, and air ports. Approximately 1.3 million identification cards containing QR codes for the electronic library have also been distributed. Regarding volunteers, the minister indicated that the target for this year is 25,000 male and female volunteers, through the efforts of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development. Regarding water services, the system produces and transports more than 1.2 million cubic meters of water daily to meet peak demand during the Hajj season. The transportation networks extend over 1,300 kilometers. The water system also conducts more than 4,000 laboratory tests daily to ensure water quality and safety, with a staff of more than 2,000 specialized Saudi technicians and engineers working around the clock. Al-Dossary said that the Ministry of Commerce has intensified its inspection of markets and vital facilities in Makkah and Medina through more than 11,000 field visits to ensure the compliance of facilities and the availability of food supplies for pilgrims. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality and Housing has mobilized more than 22,000 personnel along with 980 vehicles, and 177 shelters. The conference coincided with the approaching countdown to the Hajj season, as pilgrims continue to flock to the Holy Capital from all corners of the globe to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

In a statement on Sunday, Awqaf stressed that its move comes in light of its commitment to the safety of the nation's pilgrims and ensuring their streamlined entry to the holy sites in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which devoted all its energies to the security and safety of pilgrims. The Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs has successfully intercepted one of the newly established Hajj offices, in alignment with the maximum security measures enforced in the holy lands to ensure the success of the 'No Hajj Without a Permit' initiative, and securing and streamlining the entry procedures for pilgrims from the State of Qatar, the statement underlined. In addition, Awqaf stressed that operating Hajj and Umrah campaigns requires the obtainment of official licenses from the aforementioned department, in accordance with the enforced statutory rules in this regard. Awqaf warned against dealing with any unlicensed entities to ensure they are not engaged in any potential infractions that might affect the safety of pilgrims and Umrah performers. The department's judicial police inspectors are tasked with conducting regular inspection campaigns on Hajj and Umrah offices and campaigns to ensure compliance with all legal requirements and obligations, the statement read. It highlighted that these inspections include verifying that entities have obtained the necessary licenses to operate Hajj and Umrah campaigns, identifying any potential violations, and ultimately taking further legal actions against the violators accordingly. In this regard, Awqaf urges all citizens and residents to make sure that they register in licensed Hajj and Umrah campaigns, since the department's website: includes a list of the approved names of Hajj campaigns, whose number is 17. This comes in line with the Saudi leadership's directives to ensure all preparations for receiving pilgrims for this year's Hajj season 2025. The minister also reviewed the readiness of facilities, infrastructure, and services provided to pilgrims, ensuring their comfort and safety. Al-Rabiah inspected the readiness of the Kadana Al Wadi Towers, which represent a comprehensive transformation in the way pilgrims stay in Mina. He inspected a number of new projects implemented by Kadana Development Company to improve and develop the environment of the holy sites. The projects scheduled to be launched this year include advanced service facilities aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving the quality of services provided to pilgrims, including the project to establish a new emergency hospital in Mina with a capacity of 200 beds, and the establishment of 71 emergency centers along the pedestrian paths in the holy sites. Other projects inlcude shading and cooling the squares surrounding the Namirah Mosque on an area of ​85,000 square meters, establishing 320 canopies, installing 350 misting fans, and completing the first phase of developing the restroom system in Mina by replacing 2116 restrooms with 61 modern two-story complexes containing more than 5600 restrooms. With the aim of raising the efficiency of services and providing a more comfortable environment for the guests of God, it has also completed planting 20,000 trees on an area of ​​290,000 square meters within the Green Sites Project, which is in line with the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to increase green spaces and moderate the inspection visits come within the framework of ongoing coordination between relevant government agencies, such as the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites and Kadana Development Company, the main developer of the Holy Sites, to ensure comprehensive readiness before the start of this year's Hajj rituals and provide the best enriching and organizational experience for Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the arrival of more than 600,000 pilgrims so far, through various land, air and seaports, representing about 42 percent of the total expected pilgrim visas for this year, in an indication of the acceleration of the pace of arrival from outside Saudi competent authorities continue to intensify their efforts to ensure an organized Hajj season, relying on advanced infrastructure and an integrated service system that meets the aspirations of pilgrims and reflects Saudi Arabia's continued commitment to serving those visiting the Two Holy Mosques.
