Grimsby, Ont., man arrested after police say 2 women trafficked, forced to 'constantly' work
A Grimsby, Ont., man faces multiple human trafficking-related charges following a two-month-long investigation, police say. Halton Regional Police Service said Wednesday they arrested the 45-year-old man and charged him with two counts each of human trafficking, advertise sexual services, assault, receive material benefit from human trafficking and receive material benefit from sexual services. He was also charged for possessing fentanyl and cocaine, possession of property obtain by a crime over $5,000 and four counts of procuring, police said. Under the criminal code, procuring means to recruit, hold, conceal or harbour a person who provides sexual services. Police said two women were identified as having been trafficked by the accused "throughout Ontario during various periods in 2024 and 2025." "During the course of the investigation it was found that the victims were forced to constantly work, and in fear for their personal safety as the accused used coercion, manipulation, physical violence, and psychological harm to maintain control and influence over the victims, while he benefitted financially from the exploitation," said Halton police in a news release. The man was arrested Tuesday in Hamilton. Police said they executed search warrants in Hamilton and Grimsby. Along with fentanyl and cocaine, police said they found $37,385, body armour and "additional human trafficking related items of evidentiary value." There may be more victims: police The investigation began in April and was carried out by the Halton police's human trafficking unit, Peel police and Ontario Provincial Police. The man is known as "Dingo" and "Dante" and police said they believe there may be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers. Police say signs someone is being trafficked may include: Not being allowed to speak for themselves; Not having control of their own money or cellphone; Suddenly having a new or second cell phone with a secret number; Being controlled by others and escorted at all times; Not being allowed to contact family or friends; Withdrawing from family and friends; Providing rehearsed answers to casual questions; Being secretive about their activities; Showing signs of abuse, such as bruising, cigarette burns, fractures, etc.; Having a new boyfriend, girlfriend, or friend who they won't introduce to friends/family; And having new items like clothes or jewellery outside their financial means. If anyone believes they or someone else is being trafficked, police say to call 911 or the confidential Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline.

Police watchdog investigating after death of 2 men in Burlington, Ont.
Social Sharing The provincial police watchdog says it is investigating after the death of two men at a home in Burlington, Ont. early Tuesday morning. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said in a news release Halton police responded to a call at a home on Cornerstone Drive in Burlington. When police arrived the SIU says a 28-year-old man "fled upstairs" where he was found with self-inflicted injuries. "Officers provided life-saving measures and called EMS," the SIU said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was found dead at the scene, the SIU said. A woman was taken to hospital with "non-serious injuries." Halton police said in a post to X Tuesday morning that the police watchdog "has invoked its mandate" following a call to the area of Cornerstone Drive in Burlington. The SIU told CBC News, in an email this morning, the incident did not involve the discharge of a firearm and "it has been classified as a custody death investigation." Halton police are also conducting a criminal investigation.

Halton police are searching for a man who allegedly masturbated in front of women on two GO train trips between Toronto, Hamilton, and Burlington earlier this month. Police in Halton are searching for a man who allegedly masturbated in front of women on two separate GO train trips between Toronto, Hamilton, and Burlington earlier this month. Police say the first incident happened on May 7 on a Lakeshore West GO Train travelling from Toronto's Union Station to Hamilton's West Harbour station at around 9:30 p.m. In a release, Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) said the man was sitting in train 1733, coach 2317, when he 'continuously masturbated over his shorts while staring at a female passenger.' He was described as wearing a blue V-neck t-shirt, grey jacket, dark shorts, black crocs, and a beige baseball cap with a logo on it at the time. GO train indecent act Halton police are searching for a man who allegedly masturbated in front of women on two GO train trips between Toronto, Hamilton, and Burlington earlier this month. The second incident happened on May 10, according to police, on a Lakeshore West GO Train travelling from Union to Burlington's Aldershot station at around 11:15 p.m. That time, the suspect was sitting in train 1739, coach 2227, when he 'exposed his genitals to a female passenger and masturbated in her presence.' In that instance, police say he was wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, black crocs, a beige baseball cap, and headphones. Investigators further describe the man as having a large to medium build and standing between six-foot-two to six-foot-four. Neither one of the victims was injured in either of the interactions, police say. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact HRPS at 905-825-4777, ext. 2216, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Man charged after allegedly attempting to rob store in Burlington mall at knifepoint

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Richard Buchan A man is facing charges after allegedly trying to rob a store inside of a Burlington mall at knifepoint earlier this week. Halton police say a masked suspect went to the Rogers store inside Burlington Centre Mall at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Once he was inside, officials allege he brandished a knife and forced a store employee into a backroom, where he then stole an undisclosed quantity of cell phones. However, as the suspect tried to leave the store, a security guard intervened and brought him into custody with the help of Halton police officers. Police say the security guard sustained a minor physical injury following the confrontation. On Friday, police charged 26-year-old Muayad Al-Qayasi, of Mississauga, with a number of offences, including robbery and assault with intent to resist arrest. The charges have not been tested in court. Investigators say they saw a black sedan in the mall's parking lot at the time and are asking anyone with information or footage of that vehicle to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
