Qatari pilgrims arrive in Holy Lands in preparation for Hajj rituals

MAKKAH AL MUKARRAMAH:All Qatari pilgrims have arrived in the Holy Lands of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in preparation to perform, this year's Hajj rituals. This was accomplished after careful organization and fruitful cooperation between relevant authorities in the country, under the direct supervision of the Qatari Hajj Mission. The pilgrims departed Hamad International Airport successively last Saturday on scheduled flights on Qatar Airways and Saudi Airlines. The pilgrims were distributed among 17 certified campaigns, operating with full administrative and technical staff to provide the best services to Qatari pilgrims in Makkah and the holy sites. The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department, has been coordinating with all relevant authorities in the country since early in the year to facilitate travel procedures for pilgrims. This includes collecting baggage 24 hours before the flight, completing travel procedures and obtaining boarding passes, and organizing movement within the airport to ensure smooth movement and ease for pilgrims. This includes issuing Hajj permits (Nusuk) to pilgrims from the country before their arrival in the Holy Land. Qatar Airways has also designated special counters to serve pilgrims, in addition to the presence of joint teams from the Qatari Hajj Mission and Qatar Airways representatives at Saudi airports to ensure the safe and smooth entry of Qatari pilgrims to the Holy Land. The Qatari Hajj Mission in Makkah and the Holy Sites operates with all its support units within an integrated system to monitor pilgrims from the moment of arrival until they settle into their accommodation. Several Qatari pilgrims expressed their deep gratitude to the mission for its efforts in organizing the arrival process and providing full support at all stage. This support was provided in cooperation with the campaign representatives and with continuous follow-up from the mission members. This included removing any obstacles, if any, at checkpoints at Makkah's ports of entry, to facilitate the entry procedures for Qatari buses.

Permanent wildlife sculpture collection installed at Hamad International Airport

Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) unveils 'Wildlife Wonderscapes', a permanent collection of interactive sculptures by renowned artists Gillie and Marc. The installed bronze art pieces reflect Qatar Airways Group's dedication to wildlife conservation and highlight the importance of protecting endangered species. Originally part of a globally recognized series, the artwork has been adapted for Hamad International Airport with distinct Qatari elements, including native species. The sculptures unite endangered animals, delivering a message of coexistence, reconnecting with nature, and a hope for a safer future for wildlife. Hamad Ali Al-Khater, Chief Operating Officer at Hamad International Airport, said: 'Airports are places of movement, connection and reflection. The Wildlife Wonderscapes sculptures by renowned artists Gillie and Marc have been chosen to be part of our terminal's permanent art collection for their powerful message of conservation. Wildlife Wonderscapes encourages engagement with our passengers making every journey memorable and greatly adds to the diverse iconic art curated across Hamad International Airport.' Gillie and Marc said, "We are incredibly honored to unveil our largest permanent wildlife sculpture exhibition at Hamad International Airport. It's our dream to inspire millions of travellers to fall in love with the wild and to understand the urgent need to protect it. Through art, we hope to give a voice to the voiceless and remind the world that every species matters." The ORCHARD, an indoor tropical garden at the heart of the terminal, was chosen as a key location for the sculptures. Originally brought to life through greenery, it now evolves with the introduction of animal sculptures, reinforcing the message that nature and wildlife are interconnected and must be protected. This installation reflects the Group's ongoing commitment to wildlife conservation that is represented through many of its business functions. Qatar Airways Cargo's WeQare: Rewild the Planet initiative strives to restore wildlife to their natural habitats and contributes to ensuring biodiversity for future generations. Qatar Airways' partnership with United for Wildlife as its Official Airline Partner focuses on curbing illegal wildlife trade. The Group enforces strict policies, staff trainings, and awareness campaigns for every stage of the passenger journey. As the first airline in the Middle East independently certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its anti-trafficking initiatives, Qatar Airways remains committed to prioritizing wildlife protection and promoting conservation efforts. Among the exhibition highlights is a 3.5m x 10.5m 'Wild Table of Love in Doha', a which is made of six tonnes of bronze featuring a scene of native and endangered animals gathered around one table - a symbol of shared space and coexistence. Other works include a 10m sculpture named 'They Were on Wild Ride in Doha', and three series of the 'Falcon with Glove', which pays tribute to Qatar's falconry heritage. Passengers are encouraged to engage with the artworks and share their experience by using #BeTheWildHIA helping amplify the message of wildlife conservation as part of the global efforts to protect the planet.

Hamad International Airport issues Eid Al Adha 2025 travel advisory

As the Eid Al Adha public holidays approach, Hamad International Airport (DOH) is fully prepared to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic. In preparation for the busy travel period, enhanced services and facilities are available to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for all travelers during this festive time. Travel Tips for a Smooth Journey: Early Check-In: Passengers are recommended to check in online in advance and arrive 3 hours before departure. This allows ample time for security clearance and access to airport amenities. Self-Service Facilities: For quicker check-in, Qatar Airways passengers can utilize the self-service kiosks and baggage drop counters at check-in row number 3. E-Gates are available for eligible residents and citizens, expediting the immigration process (restrictions apply; minimum height is 130cm). Baggage Guidelines: Passengers are reminded that baggage allowances and weight limits are strictly enforced by airlines. Check with your airline for specific guidelines. Passengers are advised to avoid non-standard baggage such as irregularly shaped, oversized, or loose baggage. All checked baggage must be securely packed, properly shaped (rectangular/square) and compliant with airline baggage specifications. Passengers who wish to wrap their baggage, are advised not to use home wrap and are requested to use the baggage wrapping facility of EU safety standards at the airport. A baggage repack area is available in the departure hall with luggage weighing machines to assist passengers. Parking: Use the airport parking for quick drop-offs, pick-ups, and short stays. Avoid leaving vehicles unattended at the curbside. Enjoy special discounted rates for long stays in the car park (using the pre-book option only), ensuring proximity to the terminal. Car rental and limousine services are all located close to the arrival hall. Valet Parking: For the ultimate convenience, drop off your vehicle with our valet service available at both arrivals and departures Security Checks: Ensure no prohibited items like liquids, aerosols, and gels are in your carry-on. Pack liquids in 100ml containers within a clear, resealable bag. Remove electronics larger than a mobile phone for X-ray screening. Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries, such as hoverboards, are not allowed. Stay Connected: Download the HIAQatar app for real-time updates on flight statuses, baggage claims, and directions to boarding gates. QR codes are strategically placed throughout the terminal for easy navigation. Family-Friendly Services: To support families during the busy travel period, dedicated security screening lanes will be available for those traveling with young children. Look for the orange signage and airport security staff wearing orange arm bands at the security screening area, who are ready to assist. Source and cover image credit: Hamad International Airport
