Iran says arrests ‘European' accused of spying for Israel
Iranian authorities arrested on Monday a European national on suspicion of spying for Israel, state TV reported, as fighting raged between the foes for the 11th day. State television cited judicial authorities as saying that a spy for Israel was arrested in the western province of Hamadan, adding that the 'spy is a citizen of a European country,' without elaborating. 'The spy entered the country disguised as a tourist and continued the mission of networking, gathering information, and disrupting offensive and missile systems in Iran,' it added.

Israel-Iran live: Iran launches missiles at Israel - as Supreme Leader says response 'will not be half-measured'
IDF: Iranian air force base destroyed The Israeli military says it has destroyed "dozens of targets" belonging to Iran's air defence system this evening. It adds that, earlier today, the IDF attacked Iranian air force bases at Hamadan and Tabriz, in the west of the country. It says the Tabriz base was destroyed as a result of the attack. "The IDF is prepared to continue to act as necessary," it adds. Everything you need to know Things are developing quickly in the Middle East this evening. If you're just joining us, here's the latest: Iran has responded to Israel's strikes on its nuclear facilities with its own aerial attack this evening; Iran's Revolutionary Guard says it carried out attacks against "dozens of targets, military centres and airbases"; Israel's Iron Dome defence system sought to intercept the attack, though impact explosions were seen in Tel Aviv as some missiles appeared to beat defences; Israel's defence minister said Iran has "crossed red lines" after it "dared to fire missiles at civilian population concentrations"; Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel "launched war" and warned Tehran will "inflict heavy blows" on Israel While Benjamin Netanyahu urged Iranians to help 'thwart' the regime in Tehran, adding that Israel has taken out a "large portion" of Iran's ballistic missile arsenal and its "most significant enrichment facility". IDF: Less than 100 missiles fired from Iran A spokesperson for the Israeli military says less than 100 ballistic missiles were fired from Iran across two barrages. Effie Defrin said most of the missiles were intercepted by air defences or fell short before reaching the country. "There are a limited number of impacts on buildings, some were caused by interception fragments," he says. Medics have reported a total of 40 people being treated in Israeli hospitals. US helped Israel shoot down missiles, officials say Three officials have told Sky's US partner network NBC that the US military helped Israel down some Iranian missiles this evening. The Pentagon moved a number of military assets into the region in recent days, NBC reports, including Navy destroyers. These were positioned off the Israeli coast, ready to help shoot aerial down attacks after Israeli launched missiles at Iran earlier this week. Sky's US correspondent Mark Stone says the US offering this assistance "is entirely in keeping with the alliance Israel and the United States have". "Not to this extent, but this has happened before between Israel and the Iranians," he says. Iran 'trying to overwhelm the Iron Dome' Sky's US correspondent Mark Stone says tonight's barrage of ballistic missiles makes Iran's military aims clear. The objective "is to try and overwhelm the Iron Dome defence system, which has to be manually reloaded again and again," he says. "[The Iron Dome] can be overwhelmed. We saw a number of instances in the videos a moment ago where it was clearly overwhelmed and some of those ballistic missiles hit targets in Tel Aviv." Watch below as missiles break through the Iron Dome defences and explode on impact: Military tells Israelis they can leave shelters Israelis can now leave air raid shelters but must stay near them in case of further attacks, the military says. The Israel Defence Forces issued instructions earlier this evening telling residents to stay in shelters and minimise movement in open areas. In its latest update, the military says it's now possible to leave shelters in all regions of the country following assessments of incoming threats. Israel: Iran 'crossed red lines' with attack Israel's defence minister says Iran has "crossed red lines" tonight after it "dared to fire missiles at civilian population concentrations". "We will continue to protect the citizens of Israel and ensure that the ayatollah regime pays a very heavy price for its criminal actions," Israel Katz adds. Netanyahu calls on Iranians to help 'thwart' Tehran regime Benjamin Netanyahu has called on Iranians to stand up to the regime in Tehran and help Israel "clear the path for you to achieve your freedom". In a video released during Iran's missile attack on Israel, Netanyahu says the objective of Israel's military operation is "to thwart the Islamic regime's nuclear and ballistic missile threat to us". He says Israel has taken out a "large portion" of Iran's ballistic missile arsenal and its "most significant enrichment facility". "More is on the way," he adds. "The regime does not know what hit them, or what will hit them. It has never been weaker. This is your opportunity to stand up and let your voices be heard. "As I said yesterday and many times before, Israel's fight is not against the Iranian people. Our fight is against the murderous Islamic regime that oppresses and impoverishes you. "The time has come for the Iranian people to unite around its flag and its historic legacy, by standing up for your freedom from the evil and oppressive regime." Starmer and Trump 'agree on importance of diplomacy' in call Sir Keir Starmer has this evening spoken to Donald Trump about the latest developments in the Middle East. A Downing Street spokeswoman said "the leaders agreed on the importance of diplomacy and dialogue". Sir Keir also "reiterated the UK's grave concerns about Iran's nuclear programmes," she added. Sky's US correspondent Mark Stone says it's unclear when the phone call took place - noting it could have happened before, after or even during tonight's Iranian missile strikes. Iran claims it has downed at least two Israeli jets Iran has claimed it has shot down at least two Israeli jets and that its response to this evening's attacks on nuclear and military infrastructure has begun. It says Iran's air defence forces "successfully hit and destroyed two F-35 fighter jets" in addition to a "large number of small drones". It adds that the fate of the two pilots "remains unknown and is being investigated".
