President Sisi, King of Bahrain condemn Israeli airstrikes on Gaza Strip, call for immediate ceasefire

CAIRO – 18 March 2025: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call on Tuesday from King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to discuss regional developments and the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip. President El- Sisi and King Hamad condemned the airstrikes on the strip, which have resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties, in a blatant violation of international law, according to Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy. The two leaders emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility in protecting the innocent people of Gaza from the brutal aggression they are facing. President El-Sisi and the King of Bahrain reiterated the importance of fully adhering to the decisions of the recent Extraordinary Arab summit hosted in Cairo, particularly the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza. Both sides stressed their total rejection of any actions or decisions that would lead to the displacement of Palestinians from their lands. They pointed out that the establishment of the Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. The call highlighted the strong and solid ties between Egypt and Bahrain, as well as the two brotherly countries' commitment to enhancing cooperation in all fields and continuing close coordination on regional issues.
