This summer is critical for Elko and his staff to lock down a majority of the 12 commits in the cycle, and they are looking to flip five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, who is currently taking an official visit with the Aggies this weekend. 2026 4-star CB visited Texas A&M ahead of his official visit this summer Just like the progress made with 2026 five-star wide receiver and LSU commit Tristen Keys, who Texas A&M will host from an official visit shortly, coach Mike Elko and his staff are looking to land one of the top defensive back prospects out of Arizona, who happened to be a high school teammate with freshman cornerback Jamar Beal-Goines. Last month, it was revealed that 2026 four-star cornerback Camren Hamiel placed Texas A&M in his top four program list, joining Nebraska, Oregon, and Penn State. Knowing that the competition is fierce, Elko and his staff reportedly hosted Hamiel this weekend, prior to his official visit to College Station on June 20. However, outside of Elko, defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson have been two of the best recruiters in the country, single-handedly landing several commitments in the 2025 and 2026 classes over the last two offseasons, while making strides with several visiting defensive backs, including Hamiel. During his 2024 junior season, Hamiel recorded an impressive 50 tackles, including 35 solo tackles, three interceptions, and three pass deflections at Desert Edge. On the field, Hamiel's closing speed and ability to play in the box make him a versatile athlete with a bright future, no matter the school he chooses. According to 247Sports, Hamiel is currently positioned as the 35th-ranked cornerback prospect and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Arizona. Nebraska make final cut for 2026 four-star corner Nebraska football made the final four for 2026 four-star corner Camren Hamiel on Friday. He made the announcement on social media. Hamiel is the 263rd overall player in the 2026 class, the 24th overall corner in the class, and the top player in his class from the state of Arizona per the On3 recruiting rankings. In addition to Nebraska, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Penn State have made his list of finalists. He is set to have a busy summer coming up, as he has scheduled a bunch of visits. He is going to visit Penn State May 16-18, Nebraska June 6-8, Oregon June 13-15 and Texas A&M June 20-22. Hamiel is a dynamic playmaker who played in 12 games last season and recorded 50 tackles. He also proved to be a ball hawk, recording three interceptions for 51 yards and three pass deflections, per statistics from Hamiel would be a solid get for a Nebraska football secondary that is loading up with impact playmakers. It will certainly be interesting to see how he views the Huskers after his visit, and if the Huskers can make a sizable impact in his recruitment. Nebraska named finalist in the recruitment of class of 2026 defensive back Nebraska football made the top group for 2026 defensive back Camren Hamiel on Friday afternoon. Texas A&M, Oregon, Michigan, Arizona State, Penn State, and Tennessee also made the final cut. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Hamiel is the 45th-ranked corner in the 2026 class and the fifth-ranked player in his class in Arizona. He was most recently offered by Iowa on February 6 and is said to visit Arizona State officially on April 4. According to statistics from he had 50 tackles in the 2024 season, along with three interceptions, three pass deflections, and a blocked field goal. Nebraska has done a good job of addressing the quarterback position this season. They've made several additions in the transfer portal including, Andrew Marshall and Jamir Conn. With that being said, continuing to add depth is certainly a smart move. Hamiel measures in at six-foot-one and could develop as a strong outside corner. It will certainly be interesting to see where Nebraska ranks in this recruitment. Although they will undoubtedly face competition, they have been on a hot streak recently.
